The Archery Team did have a qualifying national shoot during this contest and now may attend the National Shoot in Kentucky. We are hoping Saturdays score will allow us a chance to register sooner.

Thanks to All of those who have given positive feedback and press to this season’s team.

NE coach bans his players from locker room after loss to IA

LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) — Nebraska coach Tim Miles is so steamed about his team’s 28-point loss to Iowa that he’s locking his players out of their locker room. The Cornhuskers’ 74-46 loss Sunday was their fifth straight and seventh in eight games. They’re 13-14 overall and 5-8 and in 10th place in Big Ten after finishing fourth and making it to the NCAA tournament last year. Miles also said players would not speak to the media until further notice, adding, “If there’s anyone who’s going to represent us right now, it’s me.”

Nebraska’s $19 million training facility opened in 2011 and features a deluxe locker room with heated towel racks and I-pod plug-ins in the showers. Asked where the players will shower after practices, Miles said, “Good luck. They’re creative young people.”

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — A high school wrestler from southwest Iowa who collapsed at the state duals tournament has been released from a Des Moines hospital. Spokesman Gregg Lagan for Mercy Medical Center said Sunday night that Creston/Orient-Macksburg student Tayler Pettit is heading home. Pettit’s parents said in a statement released by Lagan that Tayler complained of a shortness of breath after his second match Wednesday. He then collapsed, experienced seizures and went into cardiac arrest.

Scott and Melissa Pettit said in the statement that doctors found Tayler has a previously unknown condition in which an extra electrical pathway in his heart caused a rapid heart rate. Their statement said Tayler underwent a procedure to correct the pathway and is expected to make a full recovery.

LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) — Aaron White had 18 points and 11 rebounds, and Iowa rode a 21-2 run to end the first half to a 74-46 victory over Nebraska on Sunday. Peter Jok scored 14 points and Jarrod Uthoff had 11 points and four blocked shots for the Hawkeyes (17-10, 8-6 Big Ten), who swept the season series against Nebraska (13-14, 5-10) and sent the Huskers to their fifth straight loss and seventh in eight games.

Iowa, which shot 50 percent and made 10 3-pointers, was the first Nebraska opponent in 38 games to make at least half its shots from the floor. Nebraska got 16 points from Terran Petteway and 10 from Walter Pitchford. The Huskers’ 32.7-percent shooting matched their season low, and they were just 2 of 18 on 3s.

Shavon Shields, who had 25 points in the first meeting with the Hawks, was held to three points on 1-of-6 shooting.

Lawsuit over planned sports complex reaches trial

Sports

February 22nd, 2015 by Ric Hanson

DUBUQUE, Iowa (AP) — The trial over plans to develop a sports complex at the “Field of Dreams” movie site in eastern Iowa is underway. Neighboring landowners filed the lawsuit to challenge the way city officials decided to rezone the area around the site for commercial use. The trial began last Monday and was expected to last seven days.

Opponents of the All-Star Ballpark Heaven project worry about the increased traffic and noise that would accompany the planned complex of youth sports fields. The opponents say the city of Dyersville failed to consider the project’s negative impact on neighbors and didn’t follow proper procedure for the 2012 zoning decision. But Dyersville attorney Doug Henry says the city council didn’t do anything wrong.
