  • The 2020 Slowpitch softball season has been cancelled (posted 5/27/20)

CHURCH ANNOUNCEMENTS:

  • The Zion Lutheran Church will meet on May 31, 2020 at 9:15am.  All the rules of the Coronavirus will be followed. We will continue to meet on Sunday at 9:15am until further notice.  There will be no Saturday night Service for the time being.  We will announce when the Sat. service will start again.  The use of a mask will be left up to each individual and no communion will be served.  Please contact Pastor McBee if you would like to talk to the pastor about having a private communion.  If you are not feeling well please do not come to the service.  There will be no Bible study or Sunday School after Church.  There will be no meetings in June, if this should change you will be contacted.  If you would like to talk to the Minister contact him or the Church office. The Sunday service will continue to be on the web site and we will continue to make DVD disks for those that are not on an internet or network for those who want to see the services at home.  If you would like a disk to watch and listen to the service  please let the Church office know.  We will get you one.  (712-243-2927).  Medicom will continue to put the Church service on the TV on Tuesday at 1pm and 7pm.  KJAN will broadcast the service on the first second and fifth weeks of the month at 10:00 am.

  • There will be no Griswold American Legion Post #508 Memorial Day program or Women’s Auxiliary Luncheon on May 25th.
  • 2020 Relay For Life of Audubon County that was set for Friday, June 5th has been postponed
  • The 2020 Tivoli Fest Committee announced it has decided to cancel the annual festival due to the uncertainty posed by the COVID-19 public health emergency.  Tivoli Fest is Elk Horn’s annual Danish heritage festival that traditionally occurs over the Memorial Day weekend.  This would have marked the forty-first year of the celebration.
  • Massena Lions Bingo for Saturday nights has been cancelled for the season.
  • Atlantic BPW were scheduled to present Joseph Hall America’s Got Talent winner and Elvis Presley impersonator in Atlantic on Friday, March 27th, at 7:30 pm, at the Cass County Community Building. That performance has been postponed to Friday, May 22nd.

  • Atlantic Public Library – In June the library (which is currently open Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays) will be open on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays with the following guidelines in-place:
    Stay home if you are sick.
    You must wear a mask or something that covers your nose and mouth when you are in the building.
    No more than 30 people in the library at any given time.
    The library will not be a gathering place for groups or have seating available for more than one person at a table.
    All materials must be returned in a book drop or in the lobby. Returned materials will be quarantined for at least 48 hours and sanitized before available on the shelf.
    Only half of the public computers will be available in order to accommodate social distancing.
    Grab & Go pick-up appointments will be available every Thursday 10 am to 5 pm. Materials requests and appointments must be made by Wednesday of each week to qualify for Thursday pick up.
    The first hour of each day (9-10 am) is designated for patrons who are especially vulnerable to sickness. These individuals are also encouraged to continue to use the Grab & Go service.
    The reading garden will remain closed except for Grab & Go pick-ups.
    No in-person programs. Look for announcements about online programs.
    No in-library activities (puzzles, coloring pages, games, makerspace, etc.).
    No meeting room reservations
    No walk-up copy service downstairs. Staff assisted copier still available upstairs.
