The Exira-EHK Spartans honored their seniors Friday night and rolled to a big win over the Ar-We-Va Rockets 80-21 in girls hoops.  Ar-We-Va started the game with a 4-0 lead but once the Spartans got settled in they quickly took the game over.

The Spartans splashed in 30 points in the second quarter and had the game well in hand 52-10 at halftime. Sophia Peppers led the way with 21 points, all in the first half. Kealey Nelson also had all of her 16 points in the opening half.

Between games the Spartans honored their Seniors Sadie Schultes, Rachel Walker, Maggie Rasmussen, Mara Burmeister, and Alex Petersen.  The Spartans improved to 17-0 on the season and have now won 58 regular season games in a row.  The Spartans next have a make-up Monday at Coon-Rapids Bayard.

Ar-We-Va was led in the loss by Leslie Luft with 9 points. The Rockets fall to 1-16 and will play again Saturday against West Harrison.

The Exira-EHK Spartans play host to the Ar-We-Va Rockets for a varsity basketball doubleheader tonight and we’ll have coverage on KJAN. The Rolling Valley match-ups will feature two undefeated squads, the Exira-EHK girls and the Ar-We-Va boys.

The Spartan girls are 16-0 and will face a 1-15 Rockets squad. The Spartans won the first meeting of the season on December 22nd 66-21.

The Rocket boys are 16-0 on the year and they will take on an 11-4 Spartan team.  Ar-We-Va took the first meeting of the year 70-53.

The IHSAA released the wrestling sectional and district assignments this week for all three classes.

Atlantic-CAM will compete in Sectional 5 at ADM on February 4th with ADM, Harlan, Kuemper Catholic, Perry, and Van Meter/Earlham. Their district site is at Harlan on February 11th.

The IHSAA recently announced the district assignments for boys swimming. The district meets will take place on Saturday, February 4th. Atlantic will be traveling to Johnston to compete for State qualifying times. Other teams at the Johnston site will be Ames, Council Bluffs AL/TJ, Des Moines Roosevelt, Johnston, Lewis Central, Marshalltown, and Newton.

The Iowa High School Athletic Association has now released the postseason basketball assignments for all boys classes.  These are just the groupings, match-ups will be announced later.

The Atlantic boys end up in the Substate #8 grouping with ADM, Carroll, Creston, Denison-Schleswig, Glenwood, Harlan, and Winterset.
