AMES, Iowa – Iowa State guard Izaiah Brockington has been named Big 12 Co-Player of the Week, sharing the honor with Kansas’ Ochai Agbaji. It is Brockington’s fifth honor of the season, including his third player of the week accolade.

Brockington averaged 21.0 points last week while leading the Cyclones to a 2-0 record with wins on the road at TCU and at home against Oklahoma. He also averaged 4.5 rebounds, 2.0 steals and 1.5 assists while shooting 53.1 percent from the field and hitting 4-of-6 three-pointers.

The senior guard started the week with 20 points and seven boards in the win against the Horned Frogs, ISU’s first in Fort Worth since 2016. He then scored 22 points on 10-of-13 field goal shooting against the Sooners, including 2-for-2 behind the arc. Six of his 22 points came during a key 15-0 run that broke the game open in the second half. Brockington has scored 20 points in three consecutive games.

Texas Tech’s Bryson Williams was named the conference newcomer of the week.

“Being a Hawkeye has been one of the greatest privileges of my life, not only because of basketball but also because of the people that have surrounded me with love and support,” Czinano said. “ I’m really excited to see where the remainder of the season takes us because we’ve still got a lot to prove. With senior day approaching, people have been asking me a lot of questions and I wanted to clear the air. These have been the best four years of my life, so why switch things up now? The Watertown, Minnesota, native has tallied 465 points this season, racking up 1,572 career points and ranking 12th on Iowa’s all-time leading scorers list, surpassing former Hawkeye Samantha Logic (1,546).

Czinano and the Hawkeyes return to action on Monday, Feb. 21 as they take on No. 5/6 Indiana inside Carver-Hawkeye Arena in Iowa City, Iowa. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. (CT) on B1G Network.
