BOTTOM LINE: Kansas looks for its 10th straight conference win against Iowa State. Kansas’ last Big 12 loss came against the Baylor Bears 67-55 on Jan. 11. Iowa State blew out Texas by 29 in its last outing.
TEAM LEADERSHIP: Kansas’ Devon Dotson has averaged 17.2 points, four rebounds and 4.2 assists while Udoka Azubuike has put up 12.8 points, 9.9 rebounds and 2.6 blocks. For the Cyclones, Tyrese Haliburton has averaged 13.4 points, 5.2 rebounds and 5.7 assists while Rasir Bolton has put up 14.7 points.
DEFENSIVE IMPROVEMENTS: The Jayhawks have given up only 57.5 points per game to Big 12 opponents so far, an improvement from the 62.8 per game they allowed to non-conference foes.
CREATING OFFENSE: Dotson has made or assisted on 47 percent of all Kansas field goals over the last three games. The sophomore guard has accounted for 18 field goals and 18 assists in those games.
WINLESS WHEN: Iowa State is 0-9 when scoring fewer than 68 points and 11-5 when scoring at least 68.
PERFECT WHEN: Iowa State is a perfect 6-0 when the team blocks at least seven opposing shots. The Cyclones are 5-14 this season when they block fewer than seven shots.
GETTING DEFENSIVE: The sturdy Kansas defense has held opponents to 60.2 points per game, the eighth-lowest mark in Division I. Iowa State has given up an average of 71.9 points through 25 games (ranking the Cyclones 226th).

CHICAGO (AP) — Keith Clemons tossed in 25 points, Cameron Krutwig scored 21 and Loyola Chicago clamped down in overtime to beat Northern Iowa 82-73. Clemens sank 8 of 12 shots from the floor, including 5 of 8 from 3-point range, for the Ramblers (18-9, 10-4 Missouri Valley Conference).

Krutwig buried 10 of 19 shots and added 11 rebounds for his seventh double-double of the season. Green topped the Panthers (22-4, 11-3) with 19 points, but he made just 8 of 23 shots, including 3 of 11 from beyond the arc.

The Atlantic girls basketball team dominated from start to finish in a Class 3A Substate Quarterfinal win over Clarinda 58-14 on Saturday night. After a couple of shaky possessions to start the game, Atlantic settled in and jumped out to a 18-2 lead by the end of the first. They ramped the lead up to 45-6 by half and the rest of the game ticked away quickly with a running clock in place. After the game McKenzie Waters discussed the pressure that helped Atlantic get going.

Haley Rasmussen had a big night with 27 points, all coming in the first half. Rasmussen talked about her team doing a good job of working to get others open.

Taylor McCreedy added 9 and Jada Jensen finished with 8 as the Trojans improved their record to 9-13.

Atlantic advances on to the 3A Region 8 Semifinals on Wednesday night. The Trojans will travel to face the Red Oak Tigers at 7:00 p.m. in that contest. Red Oak was a 68-55 winner over Shenandoah on Saturday. Atlantic Head Coach Dan Vargason said the Trojans are excited for another crack at the Tigers.

Jessalee Niehart led the Cardinals Saturday with 8 points. Clarinda has their season end with a record of 2-20.

AMES, Iowa (AP) — Michael Jacobson scored a season-high 21 points, Solomon Young and Prentiss Nixon added 17 points apiece, and Iowa State dominated struggling Texas for an 81-52 victory. The Cyclones (11-14, 4-8 Big 12) never trailed and started the second half with a 9-0 run, building a commanding 46-26 lead.

Courtney Ramey scored a season-high 21 points to lead Texas (14-11, 4-8), which fell behind by double digits with 9:01 left in the first half and trailed by as many as 30 points.

District Wrestling competition will take place across the state today in all classes. The top two wrestlers at each weight class advance on to the State Tournament next Thursday-Saturday in Des Moines.

Competition at all district sites gets underway at noon today.

Atlantic is a host site in Class 2A and we’ll have live coverage of that action today on KJAN. Jim Field and Josh Perkins will have the call on AM 1220, FM 101.1, and online at kjan.com. Atlantic/CAM has 7 wrestlers competing today: Easton O’Brien (106), Aybren Moore (113), Ethan Follmann (120), Joe Weaver (126), Payton Fewson (170), Devin McKay (195), and Cale Roller (285).

Many of the area Class 1A wrestlers will be competing at Underwood. Wrestlers from AC/GC, AHSTW, Audubon, Bedford-Lenox, Coon Rapids-Bayard, Griswold, Nodaway Valley, Riverside, St. Albert, Treynor, Underwood, and West Central Valley will all be at that site.
