KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) – Chiefs offensive coordinator Doug Pederson says his interview for the vacant head coaching job in Philadelphia went “great,” but he insists he is focused on the New England Patriots. The Chiefs visit the reigning Super Bowl champions for a playoff game Saturday.

Pederson interviewed for the Philadelphia job Sunday. He started nine games at quarterback for the Eagles in 1999, and began his NFL coaching career under Andy Reid in 2009 as a quality control coach. Pederson followed Reid to Kansas City in 2013 as his offensive coordinator.

The Eagles have also interviewed Tom Coughlin, Duce Staley, Pat Shurmur and Ben McAdoo. Bears offensive coordinator Adam Gase also interviewed before taking the job in Miami.

AMES, Iowa (AP) – Iowa State coach Matt Campbell has named Jim Hofher as his passing game coordinator, completing his first staff with the Cyclones. Hofher has 35 years of experience at the college level, including 13 years as a head coach at Cornell and Buffalo. Hofher spent the past three seasons as the assistant head coach at Nevada.

Hofher will work under coordinator Tom Manning, who’ll be in his first season running an offense. Iowa State went 3-9 last season, leading to the dismissal of coach Paul Rhoads. The Cyclones will hold their annual spring game on April 16.

The Atlantic Boys Swimming team is preparing for their only home dual of the season on Thursday night at the Nishna Valley YMCA.  The Trojans will face Council Bluffs Abraham Lincoln in a dual that begins at 5:00pm.

The Trojans are about halfway through their second season as a program and have sent athletes to state each opportunity they have had between the Girls Fall seasons and Boys Winter seasons.  This year’s boys squad has 12 members including one senior, 3 Juniors, 4 Sophomores, and 4 Freshmen.

The Trojans are led by Junior Damon Miller who currently holds the 8th fastest time in the state in the 100 Freestyle.  He also has turned in the 10th fastest time in the 50 Freestyle and 16th best effort in the 200 Freestyle.  The Trojans strongest relay events are the 400 Freestyle and the 200 medley which they currently sit 30th best statewide in both events.

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) — IsaiahTaylor scored 28 points, including five in overtime, and Texas upset No. 17 Iowa State 94-91 on Tuesday night. Tevin Mack and Eric Davis scored 14 points each for the Longhorns, and Javan Felix added 13. Texas made 13 3-pointers in the game.

Georges Niang led Iowa State with 27 points, including 19 after halftime, but he missed a guarded 3-point attempt as the game ended. Monte Morris scored 17 points for the Cyclones and Deonte Burton had 14.

Niang picked up his third foul with 16:10 remaining. He left the game with Iowa State (12-4, 1-3 Big 12) trailing by 10 points. When he returned less than 3 minutes later, the Cyclones were down by 13. He scored nine points in the next 6 minutes to rally Iowa State, and when Morris and Abdel Nader made consecutive baskets, they found themselves tied at 79 with 4 minutes remaining.

Taylor and Connor Lammert responded with 3-pointers for Texas (10-6, 2-2), but Niang scored four points, and Morris added two, and the score was tied again, this time with 1:09 left. Taylor made a spinning shot with his off hand, the left, with 37 seconds left, but Niang matched it 9 seconds later, and the game went to overtime.

The Atlantic Girls and Boys basketball teams get a rare chance to play home games on the same night tonight at the Atlantic High School gymnasium.  Fans don’t often get a chance to see both Varsity teams play on the same floor on the same night due to larger class scheduling habits but Glenwood and Atlantic worked out a home and home doubleheader series this year.  Fans coming out to the games to support the Trojans are asked to wear white to create a “white out” environment.

Glenwood won the first Girls match-up on December 15th 49-43 in a game that counted toward the Hawkey Ten Conference standings.  This time the teams meet in a non-conference match-up but a lot will still be on the line as both teams are just over .500 on the season.  Glenwood comes in with a 6-4 overall record and 4-3 in the Hawkeye Ten.  The Trojans are 6-5 overall and 3-3 in the Hawkeye Ten.  The Trojans will try to slow Glenwood Senior Molly Dean who had 19 points in the first meeting and is averaging 13 points per game.

In the Boys game Glenwood will be the team trying to even the season series as Atlantic won on December 15th 57-48 in a very physical game.  Trojan Senior Ryan Hawkins had 22 points in that first game while Junior Garrett Franken had a great game with 19 points.  The Trojans did a good job of slowing down Glenwood’s strong guard play back in December and will work to repeat that effort tonight.  Ram Sophomore Andre Blum had 18 points last meeting.  The Rams come in at 8-2 overall and 4-1 in Hawkeye Ten action.  The Trojans are 9-1 overall and also 4-1 in the conference. The meeting tonight does count toward the conference standings.

ST. LOUIS, January 12, 2016 – The St. Louis Cardinals announced details regarding the team’s multi-million dollar investment in the new state-of-the-art high definition LED video boards being installed at Busch Stadium for the 2016 season – the team’s 10^th Anniversary of the ballpark.

“Fans will immediately notice the difference the first time they look at the new high definition video boards,” said William DeWitt III, President of the Cardinals. “We are really excited by all the things we will be able to do to enhance the fan experience with the new system, including offering better in-game video entertainment and more social media engagement.”

All 11 stadium-facing LED scoreboards are being replaced at Busch as part of a series of improvements three years in the making. The main video scoreboard will now be one complete full-color LED screen replacing the previous LED screen, tri-visions, and 2-color matrix boards and line score. Since the new video board will occupy the entire 120’ x 40’ space that all the other equipment occupied, the total size of the video board will be approximately three times larger than the previous video board with twice the resolution and brightness thanks to the more compact placement of the LEDs (13mm). The new World Championship Board (Out of Town Board) will replace some backlit signage and a tri-vision board for an entire full-color LED area of 81’ x 40’ with 13 mm spacing; approximately two and a half times larger than the previous video board. In addition to the two main scoreboards, all other stadium-facing Fascia Ribbon Board Displays including first base, third base, centerfield, bullpens, and speed pitch will be replaced adding more than twice the resolution of the previous boards. All stadium boards have been supplied by Daktronics of Brookings, South Dakota whom supplied the previous board in Busch III.

“Daktronics is proud to continue our long-standing relationship with the St. Louis Cardinals to upgrade the video technology at Busch Stadium,” said Daktronics Regional Manager Tony Mulder. “These enhancements are sure to improve an already amazing game-day atmosphere at baseball’s highest level of competition.  We’re excited to see the final product entertaining Cardinals fans this upcoming season.”

The new scoreboards along with new scoreboard equipment will make every display High Definition. The new equipment will also enhance the club’s capability to show more replays from more angles, add more roaming or wireless HD cameras in the fan entertainment experience, more options and abilities to create new layouts with more stats and entertainment elements as well as more dynamic signage abilities for sponsors.

The upgrade also includes some re-working of the stadium audio system with new amplifiers and control software to provide fans an enhanced audio experience. The team is upgrading all of the control and production equipment to take advantage of the new system. A significant portion of the new control room equipment is from Grass Valley, a subsidiary of local company Belden Cable.

The Cardinals are also making a number of other improvements to the ballpark to enhance the fan experience in advance of the 2016 season as the team celebrates the 10^th Anniversary of Busch Stadium. The Cardinals moved into the new, $411 privately-financed Busch Stadium in April 2006. Following a formal dedication ceremony on April 10, 2006, the Cardinals defeated the Milwaukee Brewers 6-4 on Opening Day in St. Louis. The Cardinals will mark the anniversary during the team’s first home series against the Brewers April 11 – 14^th

After Alabama claimed the national championship on Monday night in a 45-40 win over Clemson the final AP Top 25 poll of the season was released.  The Iowa Hawkeyes fell three spots from No. 6 to No. 9 after their Rose Bowl loss to Stanford.  The full poll is as follows:
