Alex Londo set to take over as Shelby County EMA Coordinator

The Shelby County Emergency Management Commission, Executive Committee, announced Friday morning that Alex Londo will be replacing retiring EMA Coordinator Bob Seivert.

Alex is a current employee of the agency with a Bachelors Degree, in Criminal Justice and 2 years experience as a 911 dispatcher.

Londo is a 4 year volunteer with the Harlan Fire Department.

His duties as the EMA Coordinator will begin October 1.

Hamburg man arrested in Pacific Junction

The Mills County Sheriff’s Office reports the arrest of a Hamburg man in Pacific Junction on Thursday night at 7:49pm. Deputies made contact with 23-year-old Trenton Levi Jordan of Hamburg for a valid arrest warrant out of Fremont County for Violation of Probation. During a search of Jordan he was found to be in possession of methamphetamine, Marijuana, prescription pills, several baggies, a digital scale, and brass knuckles.  Jordan was arrested on the Fremont County warrant along with four counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Distribute and Carrying Weapons.

He was taken to the Mills County Jail and booked in without further incident. His total bond was set at $169,000. The Fremont County Sheriff’s Office K9 Unit assisted with the investigation.

In a separate incident on Thursday, Deputies arrested 22-year-old Kayla Shae Richardson of Glenwood on a Warrant for Violation of Probation. Richardson was arrested at 5:58pm on Elm Street in Glenwood and taken to the Mills County Jail and held on $5,000 bond.

Texas man sentenced to 20 years in prison for Sexual Abuse in Mills and Pottawattamie Counties

A Texas man plead guilty to two counts of Sexual Abuse in the Third Degree in Mills County District Court on Monday. The Mills County Attorney’s Office reports that 26-year-old Travis Carl Boyer of Canyon Lake, Texas entered the plea and requested to be sentenced immediately. Boyer was then sentenced by Judge Mark J. Everloff to ten years in prison on each count to be run consecutively. Boyer must also register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.

Boyer was first charged with one count on July 23rd in Mills County and was later charged with the second count in Pottawattamie County on September 24th.

Atlantic girls swimming defeats Newton

The Atlantic girls swim team defeated Newton in a home swim meet on Thursday night by winning 9 of 11 events.

Annamaria Lowary, McKenna Ewoldt, Clare Christensen, and Kate Landhuis won the 200 Yard Medley in a time of 1:57.68. Ewoldt, Christensen, Aleah Hermansen, and Cambry Miller won the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay in 1:43.22 and the 400 yard Freestyle Relay at 3:52.60.

Lowary was an individual winner in the 200 Yard IM, 100 Yard Freestyle, and 100 Yard Backstroke. Other winners included: Hermansen – 50 Yard Free Style, Christensen – 100 Yard Butterfly, Bryer Rose – 500 Yard Freestyle.

Creston Police report two arrest and one theft Thursday

The Creston Police Department reports two arrests on Thursday along with one reported theft.

At 12:01pm Officers arrested 55-year-old Timothy C. Fechter of Creston on a Union County Warrant for Domestic Abuse Assault. He was taken to the Union County Jail and later released on $1,000 bond.

At 5:00pm Creston PD arrested 23-year-old Jameson C. Cox of Creston for OWI 1st Offense. Cox was also charged with Eluding by the Union County Sheriff’s Office. Cox was arrested at 302 North Pine Street in Creston and taken to the Union County Jail and held on $6,000 bond.

Creston Police also received a report from a resident on Walnut Street that he had a Glock pistol stolen from his residence between 10:30am and 10:00pm. The loss was estimated at $550.
