MARY JEAN DENISON, 97, of Atlantic, died Saturday, Nov. 21st, at Salem Lutheran Nursing Home, in Elk Horn. Per her wishes, cremation has taken place, and a Celebration of Life for MARY JEAN DENISON will be held at a later date. Hockenberry Family Care in Atlantic is assisting the family.
LEONARD TROSHYNSKI, 87, of Guthrie Center, died Saturday, Nov. 21st, at the Guthrie County Hospital in Guthrie Center. Due to new COVID restrictions, private funeral services for LEONARD TROSHYNSKI will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Guthrie Center. Twigg Funeral Home in Panora has the arrangements.
There is no visitation.
Burial is in the Resurrection Cemetery in rural Guthrie Center.

RYAN G. REYNOLDS, 37, of Panora, died Nov. 17th, at the Guthrie County Hospital. Due to new COVID restrictions, parking lot services for RYAN REYNOLDS will be held 10-a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 24th, at the Panther Creek Church of the Brethren, near Adel. Everyone is asked to stay in their vehicles, the church has its own radio station, FM 100.1, to listen to the services. Twigg Funeral Home in Panora has the arrangements.
Visitation will be private. Memorials may be left to the family.
Burial is in the Panther Creek Cemetery near Adel.

GALE E. “DUTCH” ESHELMAN, 90, of Ogden (formerly of Griswold), died Saturday, Nov. 21st, at the Boone County Memorial Hospital, in Boone, IA. An open visitation for GALE “DUTCH” ESHELMAN will be held from 9-a.m. until 1-p.m. Saturday, Nov. 28th, at the Rieken Duhn Funeral Home in Griswold. Masks will be required, and social distancing will be encouraged.
Interment will be at the Hillside Cemetery at Elliott, IA at 2:30 PM.

DAVENPORT – Officials with the Iowa Department of Corrections, Sunday, said 36-year-old David Lee Reinier Sr., who was convicted of Arson 1st Degree and other crimes in Muscatine County, failed to report back to the Davenport Residential Facility as required Saturday night.

Reinier is a white male, height 5’9″, and weighs 319 pounds. He was admitted to the work release facility on November 10, 2020. Persons with information on Reinier’s whereabouts should contact local police.
Iowa’s Coronavirus dashboard today (as of 10-a.m. Sunday), shows 33 additional deaths have been attributed to COVID-19 since Saturday’s 10-a.m. report, for a total of 2,192. The number of deaths attributed to a pre-existing condition statewide are 1,307, while deaths at Long-Term Care facilities amount to 1,003, 10 more than on Saturday. There is one more death to report in each of Cass, Harrison, Pottawattamie and Shelby Counties.
Officials say there have been 3,401 new confirmed, Positive cases of the virus reported since yesterday, for a total since the pandemic began, of 210,061. Cass County now has 15 new, Positive cases of COVID, for a total of 733. Harrison County has topped 1,000 cases, and the number of new cases in Pottawattamie County jumped 107 from yesterday.
There is one additional Long-Term Care facility (LTC) outbreak, for a total of 121. Those care facilities report 4,430 positive cases and 1,907 recovered. Cass County’s three LTC facilities have a total of 200 confirmed positive cases and 104 recovered.
The health department reports a another drop in virus hospitalizations. There are currently 1,340 Iowans hospitalized with COVID-19. There are 255 COVID patients in an ICU, while 186 people were admitted since Saturday. There are also 132 on a ventilator. In western/southwestern Iowa: there are 64 COVID patients in the hospital, (compared to 84 yesterday); 21 are in an ICU; 5 people were admitted to a hospital, and six people are on a ventilator.
The state’s data shows that 1,162,495 Iowans have been tested for coronavirus. Test results received yesterday amounted to 8,418, with 6,471 coming back Negative and 1,905 Positive. The total number of Negative results since the beginning of the pandemic is 950,371. Iowa’s 14-day positivity rate is 20.9%, and the Individual Positivity rate is 18.1%. Of Iowa’s 99 counties, 92 report 14-day positivity rates above 15%. Only one Iowa county, Lucas County, reports a 14-day positivity rate below 10%.

(Updated 10:20-a.m.) BELLEVUE, Neb. (AP) — Authorities have arrested a 23-year-old man in the fatal shooting of two people and wounding of two others at a Nebraska fast food restaurant.

Roberto Carlos Silva, of Omaha, was booked into jail early Sunday on suspicion of first-degree homicide and arson charges in the attack Saturday night at a Sonic Drive-in in the Omaha suburb of Bellevue. Police say they first received a call about a possible bomb in a moving truck parked outside of the restaurant, and officers who arrived found a burning U-Haul and four people who had been shot. Two were declared dead at the scene. Silva was arrested Wednesday for allegedly buying $57 worth of food at the restaurant using someone else’s Sonic app account.
KENNETH SUHR, 78, of Walnut, died Friday, Nov. 20th, at home. A Private, family Mass of Christian Burial for KENNETH SUHR will be held 11-a.m. Wed., Nov. 25th, at the Pauley-Jones Funeral Home in Avoca.
A public visitation will be held at the funeral home on Tue., Nov. 24th, from 3-until 8-p.m.
Burial is in the St. Patrick’s Cemetery at Walnut.
