Shambaugh man arrested for domestic abuse assault

A domestic disturbance Tuesday night in Page County resulted in the arrest of a man on an assault charge. 60-year-old David Jacob Stimson, of Shambaugh, was arrested at his residence for Domestic Abuse Assault and Obstruction of Emergency Communications.

He was transported to the Page County Jail and held without bond, pending and appearance in front of a Magistrate.

DONNABELLE JOHN, 99, of Harlan died Sunday, January 10th at Myrtue Medical Center in Harlan. Private Family Funeral Service for DONNABELLE JOHN will be held on Friday, January 15th at 2:00 p.m. at Pauley-Jones Funeral Home in Harlan.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 14th from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Pauley-Jones Funeral Home in Harlan.

Burial will be in the Harlan Cemetery.

UPDATE 2 men arrested for Attempted Murder in Council Bluffs

(In an update to our earlier reports) Council Bluffs Police say two men were arrested following an investigation into a shooting Tuesday evening. The incident happened at around 6-p.m., at 1221 North 31st Street. Officers arrived to find the victim, 32-year-old Jeffrey Enders, of Council Bluffs, on the ground, with what appeared to be a gunshot wound to the head. Medics arrived and began treatment at the scene and then transported Enders to Mercy Hospital for further evaluation.

As the investigation progressed, Detectives were able to gather information on two possible suspects. Both suspects, 22-year old Gage Eggum, from Omaha, and 28-year-old Cody Chapin, from Council Bluffs, were later located and interviewed by detectives. The detectives were able to gather enough information to warrant both suspects be taken into custody for Attempted Murder and Going Armed with Intent.

Eggum and Chapin were transported to Pottawattamie Corrections. The incident remains under investigation.

Fremont County Sheriff’s report (1/13)

The Fremont County Sheriff’s Office is reporting a trio of arrests took place over the past week. On Monday, deputies with the Fremont County Sheriff’s Office stopped a 1993 Chevrolet Corvette near the intersection of West Street and Waubonsie Ave in Tabor. Mills County K9 “Zhen” was deployed on the stop and Methamphetamine was discovered in the vehicle. The driver, 51-year-old Scott Travis, of Tabor, was arrested for Possession of Methamphetamine, Driving While Suspended, Expired Plates, and No Insurance. Travis was being held in the Fremont County Jail on  $1,000 bond.

Last Saturday, Fremont County deputies arrested 30-year-old Rusty Allen Rose, of Pana, Illinois. Rose was arrested following a traffic stop, in Tabor. He was charged with Operating While Intoxicated 2nd Offense. His bond was set at $2,000. And, On Friday, 28-year-old Joseph Alan Muellner, of Randolph, was arrested for Assault Causing Serious Injury and Interference with 911 Communications. Muellner was arrested by authorities in Pottawattamie County, in connection to an assault that occurred on Christmas day in Randolph. He was being held on $5,000 bond.

Work release escape of Darion Thomas

DAVENPORT – Officials with the Iowa Department of Corrections report 20-year-old Darion Lemont Thomas, who was convicted of Intimidation with a Dangerous Weapon and other crimes, in Scott County, failed to report back to the Davenport Work Release Facility as required Tuesday night.

Thomas is a black male, 5-feet 9-inches tall. He weighs 140 pounds. Thomas was admitted to the work release facility on September 30, 2020.

Persons with information on Thomas’ whereabouts should contact local police.

Shelby County Sheriff’s report (1/13/21

The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office reports five arrests since Jan. 5th. On Tuesday (Jan 12), 47-year-old Michael Lee Gollobit, of Manning, was taken into custody following a traffic stop along Highway 59 in Shelby County.  A check of his driver’s status through the State showed him to be suspended for non-payment of Iowa Fine. Gollobit was taken into custody and charged with Driving under suspension. He was also cited for no proof of insurance, improper use of registration, operating non-registered vehicle, and improper rear lamp. Gollobit was transferred without incident, and released a short time later after posting the required cash bond and given a future court date.

Last Saturday, 27-year-old Patrick Allen Eggerling, of Council Bluffs, and was arrested following a traffic stop in the early morning hours along Highway M47, west of Elk Horn.  Upon further investigation, it was determined that Eggerling’s driving privileges were barred. He was taken into custody for Driving while barred, and possession of drug paraphernalia, and an active warrant out of Pottawattamie County.  A passenger in the vehicle, 20-year-old Madison Marie Hansen, of Lewis, was also taken into custody and charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and an active outstanding warrant from Pottawattamie County. Both subjects were taken into custody without incident and processed into the Shelby County Jail until Initial appearance, then both subjects were released and transferred custody to Pottawattamie County.

Last Friday, authorities arrested 35-year-old Zachary Thomas Scheffler, of Harlan, following a traffic stop along Chatburn Ave in Harlan.   Scheffler was charged with possession of controlled substance (marijuana), possession of drug paraphernalia, prohibited acts, and operating a non-registered vehicle.  He was transferred to the Shelby County jail without incident and held under a $4,300 bond and held until the following morning, when he was released under his own recognizance.

And, on Jan. 5th, 52-year-old John Anthony Wyatt was arrested on an active warrant out of Shelby County, for Violation of Probation.  Wyatt as transferred to the jail without incident and held until he posted the required $1000 surety bond the following morning and given a future court date.
