Atlantic alum and current Iowa Central runner Taylor McCreedy announced her decision earlier this week to continue her track, cross country, and academic career at Northwest Missouri State University next season. KJAN Sports caught up with Taylor to talk about her career at Iowa Central and the decision making process for the next step. Taylor has had a lot of success at Iowa Central, including helping the Tritons to a NJCAA Women’s Half Marathon National Championship this past fall. She said that was an awesome experience.

McCreedy said it certainly was an adjustment moving from high school to collegiate running with the schedule that she has throughout the year.

McCreedy said it was fun to go through the recruiting process again as her two years at Iowa Central winds down. She narrowed her choices down to Northwest, SDSU, and UMKC. She said the acadmic side of things helped her narrow things down and then the visit to Northwest sold her.

McCreedy talked about the things that have helped her excel at the college level after struggling through some injuries in high school.

Competitions will continue for her Iowa Central team up through the first week of May and then a couple weeks later they will head to the national outdoor meet in New Mexico. McCreedy has already qualified for Nationals in the 5K and Steeplechase.
