The Hawkeye Ten Girls Tennis Championships were held on Monday at the Koch Tennis Center at Tranquility Park in Omaha.  Shenandoah came away with the team title scoring 26 points. Jacque Ingram of Denison-Schleswig won the No. 1 Singles title. The duo of Maddie Hartley and Brooke Brown of Clarinda took the No. 1 Doubles title.  Atlantic did pick up a single win in the No. 2 Singles with Carly Westphalen defeating Meg Ross of St. Albert in the opening round.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — Authorities in Texas say rookie Kansas Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes escaped injury after being robbed last weekend. The Smith County, Texas, Sheriff’s Office says Mahomes and three other victims were stepping from a vehicle on a driveway outside Tyler on Friday night when a suspect approached and gestured he had a handgun in his waistband.

Investigators say the man took property from the victims and sped away. Deputies later arrested two suspects and recovered items taken during the holdup. Smith County sheriff’s Sgt. Darrell Coslin told The Associated Press that the robbery appeared random, and that Mahomes was not targeted.

Mahomes played at Texas Tech and last month was selected by the Chiefs with the 10th pick in the first round of the NFL draft.

The Atlantic Girls Golf team claimed the Class 3A Region 2B Title on Monday at Atlantic Golf and Country Club. The Trojans shot a 337 to outpace Shenandoah in second with a 375.

Brooke Newell of Atlantic took medalist honors with a 77. Alyssa Ginther was 3rd with an 83. Other Atlantic scores were: McKenna DenBeste 88, Baylee Newell 89, Sara Fixmer 95, Mary Hayes 109.
