Iowa State lands Dowling Guard Ross

Sports

May 25th, 2017 by admin

Another Iowa prep offensive lineman for the class of 2018 committed to Iowa State on Wednesday. Dowling Catholic Guard Zach Ross announced that he will continue his football career as a Cyclone.

Ross is 6’3″, 290 pounds, and is rated as a two-star prospect by most recruiting services. Speculation is that Ross could play Center at Iowa State.

Ross is the second in-state lineman to commit to the Cyclones in as many weeks. Creston star Trevor Downing announced his decision to join the Cyclones last week.

Iowa’s Jake Adams is Big Ten Player of the Year

Sports

May 24th, 2017 by Ric Hanson

Iowa junior Jake Adams is the Big Ten player of the year. Adams is a rare combination of average and power. He finished fourth in the conference with a .344 average and led the Big Ten in home runs and RBI. His 24 homers broke Iowa’s single season record. His numbers also show how far the Iowa program has progressed. Four years ago the Hawkeyes had two home runs, as a team.

Iowa coach Rick Heller says Adams is a complete hitter. He says Adams is a professional level hitter already. The Hawkeyes are 34-19 and open the Big Ten Tournament tonight (Wednesday night) in Bloomington, Indiana against fourth seeded Maryland.
