Council Bluffs Man Sentenced to 108 Months in Prison for Distribution and Receipt of Child Pornography Charges

A former accounting clerk for the City of Council Bluffs was sentenced to prison Wednesday in U-S District Court, for his role in the distribution and receipt of child pornography. 35-year old Jamin C. Fletcher, of Council Bluffs, appeared before United States District Court Judge Rebecca Goodgame Ebinger and was sentenced to 108 months (9-years) in prison, and ordered to pay a $5,000 fine, $200 to the Crime Victims’ Fund, and serve ten years of supervised release to follow his prison term. Fletcher has served as Council Bluffs’ accounting clerk from 2008-to 2017.

On April 20, 2018, a jury found Fletcher guilty of Distribution and Receipt of Child Pornography. The charges were the result of an FBI investigation on BitTorrent, a file sharing program used on the Internet. FBI downloaded child pornography from a shared folder on BitTorent that identified an IP address subscribed to Jamin Fletcher of Council Bluffs. A search warrant was served on Fletcher’s residence where agents located a desktop computer, laptop computer, and cell phone that contained images of child pornography.

The investigation was conducted by the Iowa Department of Criminal Investigation, Federal Bureau of Investigation, and the Iowa Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. The case was prosecuted by the United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Iowa.

AHSTW clashes with St. Albert for district title Friday on KJAN

The AHSTW Vikings (8-0, 4-0) football team will clash with the St. Albert Falcons (5-3, 4-0) on Friday night with the Class A District 9 title on the line. We’ll have coverage on KJAN as the Vikings look to remain unbeaten and carry strong momentum into the playoffs next week. AHSTW has been strong on both sides of the ball this season and St. Albert Head Coach Pat Ryan had high praise for the Vikings.

Blake Osbahr has thrown for 1,608 yards and 25 touchdowns for the Vikings and Gabe Pauley has been a stalwart in the backfield, rushing for 1,164 yard and 18 scores. Coach Ryan said the Falcons will just hope to slow the Vikings down a bit to have a chance late in the game. The Falcons need the win to get in to the playoff field and Coach Ryan said his team is excited for the challenge.

The Falcons have seen a young, inexperienced squad improve as the season has moved along and AHSTW Head Coach Davis Pattee said they have a lot of weapons to contain.

A district title and an undefeated regular season would certainly be a great accomplishment, but Coach Pattee said they don’t need to dwell on those things with larger goals in mind.

The Vikings and Falcons are set for a 7:00pm kickoff in Avoca and our pregame coverage will begin at 6:30pm.  Chris Parks and Mike Smith will have the call on-air, online, on the web app, and live streaming video on our Facebook page. Tune in before the game for our weekly pick ’em show Who’s Gonna Win? at 6:00pm and stay tuned after the game as well for all the scores from around the state on the Iowa High School Scoreboard Show from 10:00pm-11:30pm.

The Iowa High School Athletic Association has stated they hope to release a list of playoff qualifiers in each class by midnight, with brackets and pairings being released early Saturday morning.

Atlantic wants to end the season on a high note against Red Oak

The Atlantic Trojans football team will be looking to end the season on a high note against Red Oak on Friday night. The Trojans (3-5, 1-3) are coming off a win last week Trojan Logoover Shenandoah 28-7 and hope to carry some momentum from that win into this week’s match-up with the Tigers (4-4, 2-2).

The Tigers boast a strong ground attack with three rushers over the 600 yard mark on the season. Atlantic Head Coach Mike McDermott said Red Oak’s toughness jumped out right away to him during preparation.

The Trojans have shown a lot of improvement on defense the past two weeks and Coach McDermott said they will need to continue to make plays up front to slow Red Oak down. Atlantic has also gotten some strong running going themselves in their last few outings and multiple guys have gotten involved. Tyler Moen, Zade Niklasen, Chase Mullenix, and Collin Mullenix all had strong showings last week in the win over the Mustangs.

11 seniors will be suiting up for the last time at the Trojan Bowl this week and Coach McDermott said they have provided great leadership for the team this season.

The Trojans and Tigers are set for a 7:00pm kickoff at the Trojan Bowl Friday night. You can hear more from Coach McDermott on Trojan Preview at 4:45pm Friday afternoon on KJAN.

Red Oak woman arrested following traffic stop

A Red Oak woman was arrested on Thursday following a traffic stop on East Hammond Street in Red Oak. Red Oak Police witnessed 25-year-old Amanda LeeAnn Solt of Red Oak operating a 1995 Ford Explorer. A traffic stop was conducted and Solt was charged with Driving Under Suspension and Failure to Provide Proof of Insurance. Solt was also in possession of .082 grams of marijuana during the stop. Solt was taken to the Montgomery County Jail and booked in on $1,000 bond.

UPDATE 12:55-p.m. ) I-80 westbound west of Hwy 71 open in both lanes now

Interstate 80 westbound in Cass County was reduced to one-lane for about 2-hours today, as crews worked to clean-up a collision between a semi and a cement truck. The accident happened just before 11-a.m., about one-half mile west of the Highway 71 exit.

Atlantic Fire and Rescue, Medivac, Cass County Sheriff’s Deputies and the Iowa State Patrol responded to the scene.

Cass County Emergency Management Coordinator Mike Kennon said two people were hurt and transported to the Cass County Memorial Hospital by ambulance. Additional details were not immediately available.

CARL E. DENNIS, 85, of Audubon, died Tuesday, Oct. 16th, at the Exira Care Center. Funeral services for CARL DENNIS will be held 10:30-a.m. Monday, Oct. 22nd, at the First United Methodist Church in Audubon. Kessler Funeral Home in Audubon has the arrangements.

Friends may call at the funeral home, where the family visitation is 2-p.m. Sunday, Oct. 21st.

Burial will be in the Maple Grove Cemetery in Audubon.

CARL DENNIS is survived by:

His sons – Paul (Teresa) Dennis, of Middletown, IN., and John (Neecole) Drake, of Mt. Pleasant.

His daughters – Terrie Blohm, of Audubon; Kelly (Devin) Beaty, of Atlantic, and Conda Dennis-Thompson & husband Jerry, of Audubon.

Numerous grandchildren (including his special granddaughter, Mercedes Dennis & fiance’ Adam Claussen, of Audubon),  many great-grandchildren, his sister-in-law, other relatives and friends.

HELEN MARIE FREDERICK, 91, of Earling died Wednesday, October 17th at Myrtue Medical Center in Harlan. Mass of Christian Burial for HELEN MARIE FREDERICK will be held on Saturday, October 20th at 11:00am at the St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Earling. Pauley-Jones Funeral Home in Harlan has the arrangements.

Family will greet friends on Friday, October 19th from 5:00pm-7:00pm at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Earling with a Wake Service held at 7:00pm that evening.

Burial will be in the St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Earling.

HELEN MARIE FREDERICK is survived by:
