* Severe Thunderstorm Warning for…
Northeastern Pottawattamie County in southwestern Iowa…
Southeastern Shelby County in southwestern Iowa…

* Until 830 PM CDT.

* At 757 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located over Avoca, or 15
miles northwest of Atlantic, moving east at 25 mph.

HAZARD…Half dollar size hail.

SOURCE…Radar indicated.

IMPACT…Damage to vehicles is expected.

* Locations impacted include…
Avoca, Walnut, Hancock and Botna Bend Park.

This includes Interstate 80 in Iowa between mile markers 40 and 48.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

A tornado warning remains in effect until 815 PM CDT for portions of
northeast Pottawattamie County. A Tornado Watch also remains in
effect until midnight CDT for southwestern Iowa.

building.

The National Weather Service in Omaha has issued a

* Tornado Warning for…
Northeastern Pottawattamie County in southwestern Iowa…

* Until 815 PM CDT.

* At 737 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado
was located near Shelby, or 22 miles west of Atlantic, moving east
at 35 mph.

HAZARD…Tornado and golf ball size hail.

SOURCE…Radar indicated rotation.

IMPACT…Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without
shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed.
Damage to roofs, windows, and vehicles will occur. Tree
damage is likely.

* This dangerous storm will be near…
Avoca around 750 PM CDT.
Walnut around 800 PM CDT.

Other locations impacted by this tornadic thunderstorm include Botna
Bend Park and Hancock.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

TAKE COVER NOW! Move to a basement or an interior room on the lowest
floor of a sturdy building. Avoid windows. If you are outdoors, in a
mobile home, or in a vehicle, move to the closest substantial shelter
and protect yourself from flying debris.

ALICE YOUNG, 88, of Harlan died Monday, September 23rd at Elm Crest Retirement Community in Harlan. A Memorial service for ALICE YOUNG will be held on Monday, September 30th at 10:30am at Pauley-Jones Funeral Home in Harlan.

Visitation will be held on Monday, September 30th from 9:30am-10:30am prior to services at the funeral home.

Burial will be in the Harlan Cemetery.

ALICE YOUNG is survived by:

Daughter: Patrice (Tim) Turner of Harlan.

Brothers: Bill (Linda) Jordan of Panora. Franklin (Pat) Jordan of Citrus Heights, CA.

Sister: Lee (Verdon) Sorensen of Shenandoah.

WILLIAM HOLZER, 83, of Westphalia died Monday, September 23rd at Methodist Jennie Edmundson Hospital in Council Bluffs. Mass of Christian Burial for WILLIAM HOLZER will be held on Monday, September 30th at 11:00am at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Westphalia. Pauley-Jones Funeral Home in Harlan has the arrangements.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 29th from 3:00pm-8:00pm at Pauley-Jones Funeral Home in Harlan with family greeting friends at 7:00pm. A Rosary will be held at 7:00pm that evening.

Burial will be in the St. Boniface Cemetery in Westphalia.

WILLIAM HOLZER is survived by:

Sons: Steve (Jodi) Holzer of Council Bluffs. Tom (Trish Hayes) Holzer of Westphalia.

Daughters: Tami Moritz of Westphalia. Theresa Geopfert of Harlan. Connie (Jim Claussen) Lehan of Harlan.

Red Oak man arrested on Harassment Warrant

The Red Oak Police Department reports the arrest on Tuesday of 27-year-old Nathan Allen Aldrich of Red Oak on a warrant for Harassment 1st Degree, an aggravated misdemeanor. Aldrich was taken to the Montgomery County Jail and held on $2,000 bond.
