Atlantic boys fall to Des Moines Lincoln

Sports

February 2nd, 2020 by admin

The Atlantic boys basketball fell to the Des Moines Lincoln Railsplitters 72-43 on Saturday afternoon at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines. The Trojans got off to.a good start in the game and led nearly the entire opening quarter. It was 13-9 heading into the second but the Railsplitters quickly tied it up and then would take a lead at 21-18 that they wouldn’t relinquish the rest of the way.

It was 28-20 in favor of Lincoln at the half and 46-27 by the end of the third. Atlantic had trouble trying to create space against some tight defense from the Railsplitters in the second half. They really pressured the ball handlers out top and pushed the Trojans away from the basket.

Nate Feller led Des Moines Lincoln with 21 points and Aidan Cord finished with 14. They improved to 10-4 on the season and will next head to face Johnston on Tuesday.

Atlantic got 11 points apiece from Craig Alan Becker and Bradley Dennis. The Trojans fall to 6-8 on the year and will travel to Red Oak on Tuesday night. Skyler Handlos was out for the second straight game with illness and Tyler Moen is still out with an injury. The Trojans hope a couple more days will get the team back to full strength after illness hit the team hard last week.
