A woman from Red Oak was arrested this (Saturday) morning, for Public Intoxication. Red Oak Police say 25-year old Cassandra Jane Rohner was taken into custody at around 4:05-a.m. in the 2300 block of Eastern Avenue. Her bond was set at $300.
Police in Red Oak report 46-year old Eric Stephen Pierson, of Red Oak, was arrested at around 6:15-p.m., Friday, in the 300 block of E. Coolbaugh Street. Pierson was arrested for Public Intoxication. He was booked into the Montgomery County Jail and held on a $300 bond.

The No. 3-seeded Bears advance to play Saturday in the semifinals against second-seeded Drake. The Bulldogs advanced earlier Friday after a positive COVID-19 test in the Northern Iowa program forced the cancelation of the game and ended the Panthers’ season.
EVANSVILLE, Ill. (AP) — Jasmine Franklin and Sydney Wilson had 16 points apiece, and No. 23 Missouri State pulled away in the second quarter and cruised to an 87-54 victory over Evansville. The back-to-back Missouri Valley Conference regular season champion Bears (19-2, 15-0 Missouri Valley) extended their winning streak to 15, their longest since an 18-game stretch during the 2003-04 season. Abby Feit scored 16 points for Evansville (6-15, 2-14). Ruffridge made three 3s and Franklin added six points as the Bears outscored the Purple Aces 24-6 in the second quarter and built a 40-20 halftime advantage and led by double digits the rest of the way.
UNDATED (AP) — Kansas coach Les Miles was placed on administrative leave, hours after a report released by LSU revealed school officials there considered firing him in 2013 because of his behavior with female student workers. Kansas athletic director Jeff Long says the school did not know of the allegations against Miles at LSU until this week and plans to review the findings from a law firms’ investigation of how LSU handled sexual misconduct complaints. Miles is entering his third year as Kansas coach, and coming off a winless 2020 season. He was coach at LSU for 11-plus years before being fired four games into the 2016 season.
SURPRISE, Ariz. (AP) — Outfielder Jarrod Dyson has returned to the Kansas City Royals, finalizing a $1.5 million, one-year contract. The 36-year-old, who helped the Royals win the 2015 World Series, can earn $250,000 in performance bonuses for plate appearances. Dyson was a 50th-round pick by the Royals in the 2006 amateur draft and played for the Royals from 2010-16 and stole 176 bases, sixth in team history. He helped the Royals win the 2014 AL pennant and scored the go-ahead run in the final game of the 2015 World Series at the New York Mets.
Cass County Wellness Coordinator Brigham Hoegh reports that on Saturday, March 13th, the Anita Town and Country will be hosting a USDA Farmers to Families Food Box distribution at the Anita Community Center (805 Main St.), from 12:00 – 1:00 PM, or as supplies last.
Anyone is welcome to visit the drive-through food box pick-up, and no documentation or proof need is required. Boxes will be given away at no cost or donation. People from surrounding towns and communities are welcome. The USDA Farmers to Families Food Boxes are likely to contain fresh fruits and vegetables, dairy products, and meat.

Police in Council Bluffs report one person was seriously injured during a collision that occurred at around 6:30-p.m. Friday. The accident happened at the intersection of South 24th Street and Veterans Memorial Highway. Officials say a 2001 Ford Ranger was westbound on Vets Hwy at the same time a 2005 Chrysler Sebring was eastbound, and making a left turn to go north on S. 24th Street.
A preliminary investigation revealed that the Chrysler turned in front of the Ford causing the crash. A passenger in the Chrysler received life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital.The names of those involved in the crash were being withheld as of the latest report.
The crash was being investigated by the Council Bluffs Police Department Traffic Unit.
MARYVILLE, Missouri – The No. 1-ranked Northwest Missouri State men’s basketball team reached the MIAA Tournament championship game with a 102-74 rout of No. 5-seeded Central Oklahoma at Bearcat Arena.
Northwest (23-1 overall) won its 18th straight game overall. The Bearcats also won their 17th consecutive MIAA Tournament game and have reached the program’s 16th MIAA championship game.
Senior Ryan Hawkins recorded the tournament’s first-ever triple-double with 30 points, 11 rebounds and 11 assists. Hawkins also became the all time MIAA tournament rebounding leader. Junior Trevor Hudgins dropped in 29 points on 10-of-14 shooting, including 4-of-5 from three-point range.
The Bearcats shot 60.0% for the game – marking the fourth straight game they have shot 60% or better.
Northwest will play either Washburn or Missouri Western for the MIAA tournament title Saturday at 6 p.m. in Bearcat Arena.

LESTER STANFORD LEIGHTON, 97, of Griswold, died Friday, March 5th, at the Griswold Care Center. Funeral services for LESTER LEIGHTON will be held 10:30-a.m. Monday, March 15th, at the Griswold United Methodist Church. Rieken-Duhn Funeral Home in Griswold has the arrangements.

DES MOINES– Iowa Gov. Reynolds has signed a new Public Health Disaster proclamation that extends critical regulatory relief for an additional 30 days to those on the frontlines of COVID19 recovery. The proclamation issued Friday, continues to strongly encourage Iowans, businesses, and organizations to take reasonable public health measures consistent with guidance from the Iowa Department of Public Health.
The proclamation also continues to extend the waiver on transportation restrictions for overweight loads.
