* Severe Thunderstorm Warning for…
Cass County in southwestern Iowa…
Western Guthrie County in west central Iowa…
Southeastern Audubon County in west central Iowa…
Northern Adair County in southwestern Iowa…

* Until 1215 AM CDT.

* At 1132 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located near Atlantic,
moving northeast at 55 mph.

HAZARD…60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail.

SOURCE…Radar indicated.

IMPACT…Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect wind damage
to roofs, siding, and trees.

Atlantic, Guthrie Center, Stuart, Lake Panorama, Anita, Exira,
Adair, Lewis, Casey, Massena, Menlo, Cumberland, Brayton, Marne,
Wiota, Lake Anita State Park, Cold Springs State Park, Atlantic
Municipal Airport, Anita Municipal Airport and Springbrook State
Park.

This includes Interstate 80 between mile markers 50 and 93.

Severe Thunderstorm Watch for some area counties until 1-a.m. Thursday

The Severe Storms Prediction Center in Norman, Oklahoma has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch until 1-a.m. Thursday for the following area counties: FREMONT HARRISON MILLS and POTTAWATTAMIE. A Severe Thunderstorm Watch means conditions are favorable for the development of severe storms, with the primary threats being hail and damaging winds.

A Wind Advisory continues until 10-a.m. Thursday for those same counties, plus Monona, Shelby and Montgomery Counties. A Wind Advisory remains in effect until 7-p.m. Thursday for the remaining area counties in the KJAN listening area.

The National Weather Service has issued a WIND ADVISORY, in effect from 10-a.m. today (Wed.) through 1-p.m. Thursday. The Advisory is for those counties along and north of a line from Highway 34 to the Highway 30 corridor.  Easterly winds sustained at 25 to 35 mph, with gusts in excess of 45 mph can be expected. Winds that strong can make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles traveling along north-south oriented roads. Use extra caution.

The National Weather Service in Des Moines reports a combination of warm, well above normal temperatures, highs through the 70s and pushing 80 in spots, and brisk southwest to west winds gusting as high as 25 to 35 mph will produce conditions favorable for fires to develop and spread by this afternoon. The most elevated fire weather conditions should be over central and northern Iowa. Grasses are still cured and dormant so outdoor burning is not recommended today.
