Red Oak Police arrest report (additional arrests)

Police in Red Oak, Monday, said 30-year-old Jamie Gene Neville, of Red Oak, was arrested a little before 11-a.m. today (Monday), for (Felony) Domestic Abuse/3rd or subsequent offense. Neville was being held in the Montgomery County Jail without bond.

And, 31-year-old Jessica Lynn Hardman, of Red Oak, was arrested at around 10:40-a.m. Monday, on an active Douglas County, NE., warrant for Possession of Methamphetamine with the Intent to Deliver. She was transported to the Montgomery County Jail and held pending extradition to Douglas County, NE.

The Dollar General Literacy Foundation plans to present $10,000 to Atlantic Middle School

(Atlantic, Iowa) – Officials with The Dollar General Literacy Foundation, Wednesday afternoon, will present $10,000 to officials with the Atlantic Middle School. The funds will be used to help replace books that were lost during a fire at the Middle School last Summer, and the resulting water damage throughout most of the school. The funds are made possible through the organization’s Beyond Words grant program. The funds will be presented at the Atlantic High School, beginning at 1-p.m., Wednesday, and prior to a tour of District facilities.

Denine Torr, Dollar General’s vice president of corporate social responsibility and philanthropy and executive director of the Dollar General Literacy Foundation, says “In the spirit of Serving Others, the Dollar General Literacy Foundation is proud to help rebuild Atlantic Middle School’s library collection after the school was impacted by a fire last year. This donation will support the library’s restoration by providing new books and helping students to become inspired and engaged in learning.”

Mills County Sheriff’s report, 3/28/22

(Glenwood, Iowa) – The Mills County Sheriff’s Office reports three arrests. Two arrests took place early this (Monday) morning: 35-year-old Daniel John Vornbrock, of Glenwood, was arrest at around 1:20-a.m., for Driving While Barred ($2,000 bond), and 34-year-old Myles Dustin Longcor, of Henderson, was arrested at around 3:40-a.m., for Driving Under Suspension. (Bond $300).

Sunday afternoon, Mills County Deputies arrested 50-year-old Robert Stacy Hillard, of Lewiston, NE., on a warrant for Violation of Probation. He was arrested at the Mills County Sheriff’s Office and held on a $1,000 bond.

Red Oak Police report, 3/28/22

(Red Oak, Iowa) – Police in Red Oak report the arrest Sunday night, of 60-year-old Jeffrey Richard Pape, from Emerson.  Pape was taken into custody at around 9:34-p.m., in the 1700 block of 200th Street. He was transported to the Montgomery County Jail and held on a $491 bond.

Single-vehicle accident in Atlantic, Monday

(Atlantic, Iowa) – Rescue crews responded late this (Monday) morning to a single-vehicle accident, in Atlantic. The call about the crash at 1004 E. 8th Street, went out at around 11:49-a.m. Atlantic Rescue and Cass EMS were paged to the scene. Dispatch reports said the driver was outside of the vehicle, complaining of minor injuries. Additional details are not available.

Absentee Ballot Requests May Be Filed for Upcoming Primary Election

(Atlantic, Iowa) – Cass County Deputy Auditor Sheri Karns reports person in Cass County interested in voting absentee for the June 7 Primary Election, may file requests for absentee ballots with the Cass County Auditor’s Office starting March 29. Due to recent legislation, the time period to request absentee ballots has been reduced from 120 days to 70 days. The new legislation also has shortened the number of days that the Auditor’s Office may have ballots available for absentee voting. Voters now have 20 days to vote absentee either by mail or in-person rather than 29 days.

Voters wishing to receive a ballot by mail for the Primary Election will need to complete an absentee ballot request form and return it to the Cass County Auditor’s Office, 5 W 7th St., Atlantic, IA, before 5 p.m. May 23. Voters are reminded that due to recent legislation the ballot must be returned to the County Auditor’s Office before polls close at 8 p.m. on June 7 to be counted.

In-person early voting in the Auditor’s Office and mailing of ballots will begin May 18. Absentee ballot request forms can be found on the Cass County Elections website at https://www.casscountyia.gov/county-departments/auditors-office/ . They may also be requested by calling the Cass County Auditor’s Office at 712-243-4570. Absentee voters are reminded that since this is a Primary Election the voter must choose which party’s ballot they would like to vote. The Primary Election in Iowa is a nominating process for the Democratic and Republican parties to determine who will appear on the General Election ballot in November.

Keep Iowa Beautiful and Diamond Vogel Paint Announce 2022 Grant Awards

(March 28, 2022) – Diamond Vogel and Keep Iowa Beautiful today (Monday) announced the grant awards for the 2022 Paint Iowa Beautiful program. The program provides free paint to a wide variety of public service projects throughout Iowa. Doug Vogel, Vice-President, Marketing, of the Iowa based company, says “The partnership with Keep Iowa Beautiful allows Diamond Vogel to assist and work with many local volunteers that help build communities, making Iowa one of the best states in the nation to live. Governor Reynolds will be signing a proclamation designating April as Keep Iowa Beautiful month and we are pleased to do our part by awarding paint to 154 community projects in Iowa.”

Kevin Techau, Executive Director of Keep Iowa Beautiful, says “Over the years, the Paint Iowa Beautiful program has awarded paint grants to projects in every county in Iowa. The program provides the paint for beautification and clean-up projects that improve the economic vitality and cultural climate of Iowa communities in every corner of Iowa.”  In the 19-year partnership with Keep Iowa Beautiful, Diamond Vogel has awarded over 12,564 gallons of paint for 1,286 community projects in Iowa.

Adair County Sheriff’s report, 3/28/22

(Greenfield, Iowa) – Adair County Sheriff Jeff Vandewater reports six arrests from over the past week.

  • On Friday (March 25th), 41-year-old Douglas Kelton Reeves, of Des Moines, was arrested on an Adair County Felony warrant for Violation of Probation. His Cash or surety bond was set at $2,000.
  • Last Thursday, (March 24th), Greenfield Police arrested 25-year-old Shania Kae Collins, of Greenfield, for Driving While Barred. Collins was released on a $2,000 cash/surety bond, given a citation and a court date.
  • On March 22nd, 36-year-old Lindsay Gene Sander, of Anita, was arrested following a traffic stop, in Bridgewater. She was charged with OWI/1st offense, with a BreathAlcohol (BrAc) Test result of .171% (the legal limit is .08%). Sander was released the same night on a $1,000 bond.
  • There were three separate arrests in Adair County on March 20th: 29-year-old Dennis Alexander Amaya Escobar, of Louisiville, KY, was arrested Stuart Police. He was charged with OWI/1st offense (BrAc .203%), and Driving Under Suspension, and later released on a $1,000 c/s bond; 26-year-old Matthew Henry Paulsen, of Adair, was arrested by Police in Adair, for Possession of a Controlled Substance/3rd offense – marijuana; PCS/3rd offense – Methamphetamine, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. He was being held in the Adair County Jail on a $5,000 c/s bond; and, 32-year-old Corey Patrick Ramsey, of Johnston, was arrested following a traffic stop on I-80 at mile marker 93, just east of Stuart. Ramsey was charged with OWI/2nd offense. He was also cited for Speeding 88 mph in a 70-mph zone. Ramsey was released the following day on a $2,000 c/s bond.

(Council Bluffs, Iowa) – Officials with the Pottawattamie County Auditor’s Office have released a list of candidates who filed nomination papers for the June 7, 2022 Primary Election. It was noted also, that the list will not be considered official until after April 1st. That’s because the deadline for a candidate to withdraw is March 30th, and the deadline for objections to a filing is April 1st. (I=Incumbent)
