Iowa forward Cooper Koch hopes his health issues are behind him as he gets ready for a new season. Koch saw action in 10 games last season as a true freshman and averaged nearly 14 minutes per game before missing the rest of the season after suffering a collapsed lung. He was granted a medical redshirt.
Koch is the only scholarship player returning from last season and he is looking to carve out a role in new Hawkeye coach Ben McCollum’s system.
Koch says under McCollum the emphasis has been on defense during summer workouts.

The PGA Tour returns to the Quad Cities this week with Thursday’s start of the John Deere Classic. In 2022, the tournament moved back a week and is now two weeks before the British Open. While the change has helped attract more big names to the field it also means the tournament will consistently be held the week of the Fourth of July holiday.
That’s tournament director Andrew Lehman (lay-min) who says the date change as well as the PGA Tour cutting the number of players who qualify for the FedEx Cup playoffs from 125 to 70 has helped their field.
Davis Thompson will be back to defend his title this week.
