NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (AP) – An Iowa woman who was badly injured in a Nebraska car accident has found the man who helped her 24 years ago. Jennifer Hardie-Fehrer, now a nurse in Chariton, Iowa, has thought often about the man she could remember only as Chris. He’d stopped after seeing the June 4, 1992, Interstate 80 accident.

Hardie-Fehrer was 12 and her 23-year-old sister was driving them from Colorado to spend time with their father in Iowa. Her sister lost control of the car and it rolled just west of Hershey. Chris gave her some first aid, keeping her stable until medics could arrive.

They lost touch, but she didn’t forget him. With the help of a North Platte Telegraph reporter, Hardie-Fehrer talked Saturday with Chris Scaff, who now lives in Pennsylvania.

The Glenwood Police Department reports the driver of a car was arrested early Sunday morning, following an accident that caused $3,000 damage. Officials say 41-year old Michael Charles, of Glenwood, was arrested at around 2:30-a.m. after he missed a curve on Green Street. His 1996 Honda Civic left the road and hit a MediaCom relay box, which was dragged under the car. The vehicle also hit some bushes and a small tree before coming to rest. Officials say Charles was arrested for OWI/1st offense and cited for Failure to Maintain Control. His bond was set at $1,000.

And, 21-year old Kendra Felos, of Glenwood, was arrested Saturday, for OWI/1st offense, Possession of a Controlled Substance and Possession of Contraband in a correctional facility. Her bond was set at $7,000.

Audubon Municipal Airport was the site of a Flight Breakfast, Sunday morning. Officials with the Audubon Chamber of Commerce report 649 people were served a meal of ham and cheese omelets, pancakes, coffee, juice and milk, from 6:30-until 10:30-a.m. That’s a slightly lower number of persons attending than last year’s event, but there were more aircraft that flew-in this year, than in 2015.

52 planes arrived at the airport to partake in the annual event. Pilots and their passengers were served their meals for free. Aircraft flew in from 24 communities in Iowa, seven were from Nebraska, and one came from Kansas. Officials say it was a perfect day for flying.

In addition to the pilots, bicycle clubs riding-in on the T-Bone Trail came to enjoy the event, as well. The Chamber was pleased with the great local support it received to help make the Flight Breakfast a success. The annual Flight Breakfast is the major fundraiser for the Audubon Chamber of Commerce and is held the first Sunday in June.

Voters in Shelby County have three Republican candidates for Supervisor to choose during Tuesday’s primary election. Two will move on to fill two open seats in November. Republicans on the ballot Tuesday include Steve Kenkel, Charlie Parkhurst and Loren Christensen. Kendall and Parkhurst are the incumbents.

Also up for election this year (in November), is Democrat incumbent County Auditor Marsha Carter, who faces a challenge by Republican Mark Maxwell. They will face off in a forum tentatively set for October. Shelby County Republican Sheriff candidate Neil Gross is unopposed in his bid to replace Mark Hervey, who has announced his retirement.

Election officials in Pottawattamie County say six people are seeking two open seats on the Pottawattamie County Board of Supervisors in Tuesday’s Primary election. Among the candidates are Republicans Marilyn Jo Drake, incumbent Lynn Grobe, Shala Chevalier, Lynne Branigan and Tim Wichman, and Democrat Bartholomew Randolph. Incumbent  Pott. County Sheriff Jeff Danker is unchallenged in the election for Pottawattamie County Sheriff, and incumbent Auditor Melyvn Houser is unchallenged for his office. Both men are Republicans.

Two of the five Republicans running for the board will move on to the November general election, unless none of the candidates receives at least 35 percent of the vote. If that occurs, the county’s Republican Party will then decide who moves on.

Other races on the June 7 primary will vote those running for U.S. senator, U.S. representative, state senator and state representatives.

Voters in Cass County have a number of candidates to choose from during Tuesday’s Primary Election. In order to move on to the November General Election, a candidate must receive 35% of the vote. If none of the candidates in a given race receives the required number of votes, the winner will be determined by a special, county convention.

Six Republicans are vying for the District 4 seat on the Cass County Board of Supervisors. The candidates include Rocky Anderson and Ryan Askeland, Steve Baier, and Barry Moore, all of whom are from Griswold, Todd Hansen, of Atlantic, and Nick Hensley, of Cumberland. The only Democrat running for the seat, is Dana Kunze, from Griswold.

Among the Republican candidates running for the District 1 seat on the Cass County Board of Supervisors, is Atlantic Police Chief Steve Green, Atlantic Mayor Dave Jones,  and Dale Retallic. All three men are from Atlantic. In District 5, Republicans, J. Ford Lillard, of Wiota and Bernard Pettinger, of Anita, are challenging incumbent Republican Frank Waters, of Cumberland.

Incumbent Cass County Republican Auditor Dale Sunderman will face off against his fellow Republican challenger Wendy Richter to try and retain his seat. And Cass County Republican incumbent Sheriff Darby McLaren, of Atlantic, is unopposed in his bid for re-election.

The polls will be open from 7-a.m. until 9-p.m., Tuesday.

Voters in Montgomery County will see all current Republican incumbent candidates for office running for re-election on the ballot, Tuesday. They include Auditor Stephanie Burke, Sheriff Joe Sampson, and Donna Robinson – Montgomery County Board of Supervisors, District 5.

There are two Republicans running for the Board of Supervisors District 3 seat in Montgomery County, including incumbent Bryant Amos, and challenger Mike McCunn.  The Polls in Montgomery County will be open from 7-a.m. until 9-p.m., Tuesday.

Polling places in Montgomery County include: The Red Oak Gold Fair Building; Red Oak Fire Station; Red Oak 1^st Christian Church; Elliott Community Building; The Stanton Fire Department; Grant Fire Department, and Villisca Community Building.

On a separate note, Montgomery County’s vacancy committee met Friday morning, and unanimously decided to fill a vacancy on the Board of Supervisors in District 2, by appointment. Prospective appointees are requested to submit the following for consideration:

• Resume
• References – optional

Applications should be sent to Carleen Bruning, Recorder, 105 E Coolbaugh, PO Box 469, Red Oak, IA  51566.  Applications must be received on June 24, 2016, at 4:30 p.m.  They must be postmarked June 24, 2016, if mailed.  Applications for appointment are public record. All applicants must have resided in Montgomery County Supervisor District 2 for at least 60 days.

The committee will convene at 6:30 p.m. on June 28th, in the courtroom at the Montgomery County Courthouse in Red Oak, for a public meeting.  Qualified applicants are expected to attend.  The Supervisor Appointing Committee will conduct a panel interview of all persons seeking appointment to fill Supervisor District #2.  The committee will randomly draw the order for responding to the question.

The committee will reconvene on Wednesday, June 29th, at 5:00 p.m. in the basement meeting room at the courthouse to decide on the appointment.  A new member of the Board of Supervisors will be sworn in on the next regular scheduled Board of Supervisors meeting.

Rescue crews from Atlantic and Lewis were dispatched to a rollover accident this morning. The accident happened at around 8:45-a.m. on the A-T-and T Curve (Highway 6). The lone male occupant of the vehicle reportedly suffered minor injuries. He was out of the vehicle, conscious and breathing.

The Creston Police Dept. reports a total of five arrests since Friday, with four people taken into custody on separate charges, on Friday. 25-year old Nathan Vicker, of Creston, was arrested for Possession of Methamphetamine and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Vicker was being held in the Ringgold County Jail on $2,000 bond.

17-year old’s Tommie O’Neall, and Donavon Houghmaster, both of Creston, were referred from the Union County Law Enforcement Center to Juvenile Authorities, Friday, on charges of Criminal Mischief in the 1st degree. O’Neal was later released to the custody of her mother. Houghmaster was released to the custody of Juvenile Authorities.

And, 30-year old Joshua Coulter, of Bridgewater, was arrested Friday in Creston, for Criminal Mischief in the 4th Degree, Trespass, and Public Intoxication. He was later released from the Union County Jail on $1,000 bond.

On Saturday, Creston Police arrested 36-year old Richard Brammer, of Creston, for OWI/2nd offense. Brammer was later released on $2,000 bond.
