The Cass County Emergency Management Agency reported as of 10:08-p.m., “There is currently widespread street flooding throughout the City of Atlantic. Travel is not advised. Please avoid driving through standing or running water on the streets.”

* Severe Thunderstorm Warning for…
Eastern Cass County in southwestern Iowa…
Adair County in southwestern Iowa…

* Until 1045 PM CDT.

* At 953 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located 10 miles southeast
of Atlantic, moving east at 40 mph.

HAZARD…60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail.

SOURCE…Radar indicated.

IMPACT…Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect wind damage
to roofs, siding, and trees.

* Locations impacted include…
Atlantic, Greenfield, Stuart, Anita, Fontanelle, Orient, Massena,
Cumberland, Bridgewater, Wiota, Lake Anita State Park, Greenfield
Municipal Airport, Nodaway Park and Anita Municipal Airport.

This includes Interstate 80 between mile markers 85 and 97.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

A Tornado Watch remains in effect until midnight CDT for south
central, southwestern and west central Iowa.

A Tornado Watch remains in effect for the warned area. Tornadoes can
develop quickly from severe thunderstorms. Although a tornado is not
immediately likely, if one is spotted, act quickly and move to a
place of safety inside a sturdy structure such as a basement or small
interior room.

For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a
building.

The National Weather Service in Des Moines has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for…
Western Cass County in southwestern Iowa…

* Until 345 AM CDT.

* At 948 PM CDT, local law enforcement reported heavy rain across
the warned area. Flash flooding is already occurring. Water was
reported over the road at 7th and Walnut, and 6th and Sunnyside in
Atlantic. Some vehicles were stalled with the roads impassable.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include…
Atlantic, Griswold, Lewis, Marne, Griswold Park, Cold Springs State
Park and Atlantic Municipal Airport.

Additional rainfall amounts of up to an inch are possible in the
warned area.

This includes Interstate 80 between mile markers 50 and 62.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

minor flooding in the advisory area.

Avoca, Walnut, Shelby, Minden, Hancock and Botna Bend Park.

This includes Interstate 80 in Iowa between mile markers 29 and 48.

…THE SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING FOR NORTHEASTERN POTTAWATTAMIE
COUNTY WILL EXPIRE AT 915 PM CDT…

The storm which prompted the warning has weakened below severe
limits, and no longer poses an immediate threat to life or property.
Therefore, the warning will be allowed to expire. However small hail
and heavy rain are still possible with this thunderstorm.

A Tornado Watch remains in effect until midnight CDT for southwestern
Iowa.

FOR NORTHEASTERN POTTAWATTAMIE AND SOUTHEASTERN SHELBY COUNTIES…

At 816 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located over Walnut, or 9
miles northwest of Atlantic, moving east at 25 mph. Another severe
thunderstorm was located over Avoca, also moving east at 25 mph.

HAZARD…Quarter size hail.

SOURCE…Radar indicated.

IMPACT…Damage to vehicles is expected.

Locations impacted include…
Avoca, Walnut, Hancock and Botna Bend Park.
