NORMAN, Okla. (AP) — Lindell Wigginton scored 17 points to help lead No. 17 Iowa State to a 75-74 victory over Oklahoma. Marial Shayok added 16 points, 10 in the final eight minutes, including a crucial off-balance 3-pointer as the shot clock expired with 1:19 remaining, for Iowa State (18-5, 7-3 Big 12).

UNDATED (AP) — No. 2 Duke is to face No. 3 Virginia in a rematch of one of the season’s most entertaining games. The Blue Devils won the first meeting 72-70 to hand the Cavaliers their first loss. The rematch will be at Virginia’s John Paul Jones Arena

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Missouri’s Cuonzo Martin is downplaying his return to Tennessee as a visiting men’s basketball coach for the first time since the end of his own tenure coaching the Volunteers. Martin already faces enough of a challenge trying to upset the top-ranked Vols. Tennessee will take a school-record 16-game winning streak into Tuesday night’s game against Missouri.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — The Kansas City Chiefs have instituted a lifetime ban against a fan accused of flashing a laser at New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady during last month’s AFC championship game. The Kansas City Star reports that the Chiefs say the team is also working with authorities to charge the fan “as aggressively as possible.” That decision would ultimately be made by Jackson County prosecutors.

Marial Shayok added 16 points, 10 in the final eight minutes, including a crucial off-balance 3-pointer as the shot clock expired with 1:19 remaining, for Iowa State (18-5, 7-3 Big 12). Shayok, who shot just 2-of-7 for six points through the first 32-plus minutes, also had eight rebounds and five assists as the Cyclones won their fourth straight.

Kristian Doolittle had 19 points and nine rebounds, while Brady Manek scored 16 for Oklahoma (15-8, 3-7), which had a very short turnaround after a game at West Virginia on Saturday. The Sooners have lost three in a row.

Iowa State led for most of the second half, going up 64-57 with 5:49 remaining when Wigginton hit two free throws. But Oklahoma battled back, going on a 12-5 run over the next four minutes to tie it 69-69 on Christian James’ layup with 1:51 to go.

The Cyclones pushed the lead to four on Talen Hortton-Tucker’s free throw with 13.5 seconds left, and after Doolittle’s basket pulled OU to within two again with 4.2 to go, Shayok sank two more free throws with 3.5 seconds remaining before Jala Bieniemy hit a meaningless 3-pointer as time expired.

Iowa State: The Cyclones return home to face TCU on Saturday, the first of two meetings against the Horned Frogs in a span of two weeks.

The Atlantic Trojans boys basketball team used a solid defensive effort to get by the Creston Panthers on Monday night 56-47. It was a tight game throughout and the Trojans trailed by two at the end of the 1st and by one at Halftime 26-25. Atlantic turned the game in their favor in the third, and led 41-32 heading into the fourth.

The Trojans played strong defensively, especially in the second half. Creston’s Kylan Smallwood dropped 38 on the Trojans in their first meeting of the season and he had 16 by halftime on Monday. Atlantic Head Coach Jeff Ebling said he told the team at the break that they were going to have to slow him down or they wouldn’t win the game. Tyler Moen played tight on Smallwood in the second half and he finished with 24 points, including a couple of late buckets. The Trojans not only slowed down the talented Smallwood but made it difficult on the rest of the Panthers as well with some different looks in the second half.

Atlantic got a strong performance on Senior Night from senior Chase Mullenix who finished with 17 points. Logan Reilly and Skyler Handlos both finished with 10 for the Trojans as they improved to 7-10 on the season. The Trojans are back it on Tuesday with a game at the Atlantic Middle School against Clarinda at 7:30pm.

The Panthers only had four players get in the scorebook and fell to 7-10. They will next travel to Clarinda on Thursday.

The Atlantic girls basketball team played a strong game on Monday night but ultimately couldn’t come away with a victory. The Trojans fell to the Creston Panthers 65-59. Atlantic was down three at the end of the first quarter but played a solid game on both ends of the floor to lead 30-26 at halftime. The Panthers turned it around in the third behind 3 three pointers from Brielle Baker and grabbed a 43-38 lead at the end of the three. The Trojans fought back to tie the game late at 58, but the Panthers scored the next five points and secured the win.

Creston was led by 26 points from Kelsey Fields and 24 points from Brielle Baker. The Panthers get back above .500 with the win and are 9-8 on the season. They will travel to Clarinda on Thursday.

Atlantic had one of their better offensive outputs of the season and had four players in double figures: McKenzie Waters with 14, both Alyssa Ginther and Baylee Newell with 13, and Haley Rasmussen with 10. The Trojans fall to 3-16 and will face Clarinda on Tuesday night at the Atlantic Middle School at 6:00pm.

Atlantic hosts Creston tonight for a basketball doubleheader and we’ll have coverage on KJAN.

The girls game is set to tip-off at 6:00pm and the boys will follow at about 7:30pm. It will be a busy night with AHS Fuel hosting their Coaches vs. Cancer night to raise funds for the American Cancer Society. CCHS is supporting the effort with donations and giveaways during the evening. Fans are encouraged to wear pink to support he effort.
