(Creston, Iowa) – A man from Adair County was transported by private vehicle to the hospital in Creston, following a single-vehicle rollover accident Saturday morning. Authorities say 32-year-old Bryan Dean Schultz, of Greenfield, was driving a 2014 Ford Focus north on Highway 25 at around 12:25-a.m., Saturday, when he lost control of the car. The vehicle left the road and went down a slight embankment before rolling over and landing in a creek bed.

Upon further investigation, it was discovered Schultz suffered injuries as a result of the accident. He was also suspected of OWI, with charges pending blood test result from the lab.

The car, registered to a woman from Greenfield, sustained $15,000 damage.

(St. Charles, Iowa) – A crash involving a cargo truck Sunday night in eastern Madison County claimed the life of a Winterset man. The Iowa State Patrol reports 41-year-old David Blair, of Winterset, was traveling south on Upland Avenue at around 7:50-p.m., Sunday, northwest of St. Charles, when he lost control of the vehicle on a curve near 230th Street, causing the cargo truck to roll over.

(Oakland, Iowa) – The City of Oakland has issued a Boil Water notice for parts of the City due to a loss of pressure in the water distribution system. The notice applies to all Harrison Street addresses and 601 and 603 Pioneer Avenue. The notice as published appears below:

(Greenfield, Iowa) – The Adair County Sheriff’s Department reports the arrest January 4th on drug charges, of a man from Clearfield. Stuart Police arrested 29-year-old Mikel Olin Hilton at around 2:30-a.m., Thursday, following a traffic stop at the Stuart exit off Interstate 80. The vehicle was pulled over because an Officer observed there were no working taillights on the 2006 Ford Mustang.

Upon further investigation, and while speaking with the driver, identified as Mikel Hilton, the Officer detected the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. Hilton admitted to possessing about one-half ounce of marijuana, THC wax, a methamphetamine bong, and other drug paraphernalia.

A Probable Cause search of the car was conducted, during which the marijuana and paraphernalia were found, along with a pipe containing burned marijuana residue. The evidence was seized and Hilton arrested for Possession of a Controlled Substance-2nd offense/Marijuana, and Possession of drug paraphernalia.

Hilton was released from the Adair County Jail about 2 hours later on a $2,300 cash or surety bond.

(Clarinda, Iowa) – Officials with the City of Clarinda have declared a “Snow Emergency” for heavy snowfall. The order, is in effect for Clarinda from 9-a.m. Monday until 9-p.m. Tuesday, or until the snowfall ceases and all streets have been plowed.

NO ON-STREET PARKING ALLOWED DURING THE SNOW EMERGENCY.

Vehicles parked on the street are subject to being ticketed and towed.

(Bedford, Iowa) – The Taylor County Sheriff’s Office reports the arrest of a juvenile, in connection with a threat to commit gun violence at the Lenox Community School District. Authorities today (Sunday) issued a statement which said their investigation resulted in the arrest at around 7:30-p.m. Saturday, of a juvenile male, who is charged with making terroristic threats. The juvenile was remanded to the Iowa Juvenile Detention Center and was being held in their facility.

As with a previous release issued by Lenox Superintendent Dave Henrichs, the Taylor County Sheriff’s Office reiterated “school will continue this week as regularly scheduled.” The said also, “As with each and every school day, school safety is the top priority for both our office utilizing [the] SRO program and the school itself. Staff of Lenox Schools will implement safety protocols and there will be an increased law enforcement presence in the school.”

(Creston, Iowa) [**Creston Police issued correction, 1/8/24]– Police in Creston, Sunday, said there were two arrests on Friday. 24-year-old Noah Alexander Young, of Creston, was arrested at around 7:10-a.m., for Disorderly Conduct/Loud Raucous Noise. Young was taken into custody in the 500 block of N. Maple Street. He was transported to the the Union County Jail and later released on his Own Recognizance, after appearing before a Magistrate.

And, at around 3:35-p.m., Friday, Creston Police arrested **50-year-old Angela Denise Coke, of Creston, at the Creston Wal-Mart. She was taken into custody for Theft in the 5th Degree. Coke was cited at the scene and released.

(Shenandoah, Iowa) – Police in Shenandoah, Saturday, issued a report on arrests that took place from December 16, 2023 through Dec. 30, 2023. On the 30th, 30-year-old Jordan Allen Mick, of Shenandoah, was arrested for Interference with Official Acts & Public Intoxication. Read about the other arrests, below:

(Red Oak, Iowa) – Police in Red Oak report the arrest at around Noon on Saturday (Jan. 6th), of 35-year-old Zane Mikal Lamb, of Red Oak. Lamb was arrested following a traffic stop in the 2400 block of N. 8th Street, on a charge of Driving While License is Denied or Revoked. He was transported to the Montgomery County Jail, and held on a $1,000 bond.

Friday night, Red Oak Police arrested 30-year-old Amber Elaine Lievsay on an active warrant for Child Endangement. Lievsay was being held in the Montgomery County Jail on a $2,000 cash-only bond. The Police report did not say where Lievsay was from.

SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KCAU) — The president of Briar Cliff University has resigned, and an interim president has been appointed. According to the university, Dr. Patrick J. Schulte resigned from his position to pursue “other personal and professional opportunities.” He accepted a new executive leadership position at Donnelly College in Kansas City, Kansas.

Briar Cliff named Dr. Schulte as the 12th president back in March of 2023. His inauguration happened in September.
The university’s board of trustees unanimously appointed Steve Freeman as the interim president. He served on the board for 12 years and graduated from Briar Cliff in 1969.

The presidential search plans will start in the “near term,” the university said.
