Northern Iowa is the 12th seed in the East Region and will play fifth seeded St. John’s in San Diego on Friday. It is the fifth time coach Ben Jacobson has led the Panthers to the tournament.

The Panthers did not wait long to see their name.

St. John’s is 28-6 and won the Big East Tournament title.
