Iowa State assistant coach JR Blount has been named the new head coach at the University of San Diego. Blount is in his fifth season on T.J. Otzelberger’s staff with the Cyclones.

Blount will remain with the Cyclones until the season is over. The sixth ranked Cyclones open the Big 12 Tournament on Wednesday.

Otzelberger says the hiring of Blount is a positive reflection on the program.
