Cass County Primary Elections – updated 3/18/26

(Atlantic, IA) – The Cass County Auditor’s Office reports an additional candidate has filed nomination papers in advance of the March 20th deadline for the June 2nd Primary Election. Officials say Republican Wendy Richter filed her papers for re-election to the Cass County Board of Supervisors, representing District 3.

Previously, we reported Supervisor Mark T. O’Brien filed for re-election to his District 2 seat on the Board of Supervisors. Other County Office candidates who have filed for re-election include: County Attorney – Vanessa Strazdus; County Recorder – Mary Ward, and County Treasurer Tracey J. Marshall, all of whom are Republicans.

Candidates must file an affidavit of candidacy and nomination petition with the Cass County Auditor’s Office, with the required number of signatures, before the filing deadline at 5-p.m., March 20th. Candidates who win the party’s nomination on June 2nd, advance to the General Election ballot for the election on November 3rd, 2026.
