Iowa rally falls short at Minnesota
January 7th, 2026 by Ric Hanson
A furious rally by 19th ranked Iowa fell short in the Twin Cities. Jaylon Crocker-Johnson’s three pointer with a minute remaining gave Minnesota the lead for good in a 70-67 win. The Hawkeyes rallied from a late 14-point deficit to take a brief lead and missed a trio of three pointers in the waning seconds.
That’s Iowa coach Ben McCollum. A dreadful opening half proved costly. The Hawkeyes made only 11-of-29 shots in the first half and trailed 31-24 at the break.
Langston Reynolds led Minnesota with 22 points as the Gophers improve to 3-1 in the Big Ten.
Iowa is 2-2 in the Big Ten.
