Iowa men edge USC 73-72

Iowa hung on to beat USC.

Gary Dolphin and Bobby Hansen on the Hawkeye Network. Bennett Stirtz hit a pair of free throws with just over four seconds remaining in a 73-72 victory. It was a game the Hawkeyes led by 17 midway through the second half. USC guard Kam Woods led the rally with 27 of his game high 33 points in the second half.

Stirtz had 20 points as did Tavion Banks. Alvaro Folgueiras gave the Hawkeyes a big lift off the bench with 14 points.

That’s Iowa coach Ben McCollum. The Hawkeyes opened the second half with a 20-4 run before the Trojans came roaring back.

The Hawkeyes are 5-4 in the Big Ten and 15-5 overall.
