RUTH ANN WEIS, 93, of Defiance, died Monday, Dec. 29, 2025, at the Salem Lutheran Home. A Mass of Christian Burial for RUTH WEIS will be held 1-p.m. Saturday, Jan. 3rd, 2026, at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Harlan. Pauley-Jones Funeral Home in Harlan has the arrangements.

Visitation at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Defiance is on Friday, Jan. 2nd, from 4-until 7-p.m., with a Rosary at 7-p.m.

Burial is in the Saints Peter & Paul Cemetery in Defiance.

RUTH ANN WEIS is survived by:

Her sons – Bob Weis, Jr. (& wife Donna), of Harlan; and Russ (Jessica) Weis, of Cambridge, IA.

Her daughters – Sheila (Ron) Mikkelsen, and Joan (Jerry) Chamberlain, all of Harlan; Nancy (Mark) Falkena, of Carroll; Jude (Darcy) Fox, of Manilla; Ronda (Ted) Jansen, of Aspinwall; and Lisa (Bart) Sullivan, of Dunlap.

Her brothers – Paul (Jane) Schaben of Carroll; Bernard Schaben, of Denison; Dan (Georgine) Schaben, of Harlan; Henry (Colleen) Schaben, of Omaha, NE; and Mike (Jeannie) Schaben, of Defiance.

Her sisters – Mary Campbell, of Denison, and Rose (Richard) Ditter, of Florida.

27 grandchildren; 60 great-grandchildren; and her  sister-in-law, Cindy Schaben of California.
