(Council Bluffs, IA) – Officials with the Pottawattamie County Sheriff’s Office said today (Thursday), the office has received reports of phone calls from someone claiming to be Lt. Rob Ambrose and even a few posing as retired Sheriff Jeff Danker. The callers are telling people there is a warrant for their arrest and demanding payment over the phone. This is a scam.

Scammers will use fear, pressure, and familiar names to gain your trust. Please remember: we will NEVER call you to request money, gift cards, Venmo payments, or any form of payment to “take care of” a warrant.

Unfortunately, no matter how often authorities share scam warnings, there are still people who fall victim. These calls can be an attempt to steal money, gather personal information, or lure someone into an unsafe situation.
