WAUKEE, Iowa — The top-ranked University of Iowa women’s wrestling team defeated NAIA No. 2 Grand View, 32-10, at Waukee Northwest High School on Thursday evening.

#1 IOWA VS. Grand View
Starting things off at 103 pounds, Sterling Dias got the Hawkeyes on the board with three points with a win by decision (3-0) over Judy Sandoval. No. 2 Nyla Valencia got the decision (8-2) over Tristan Nitta at 110 pounds to secure a 6-1 lead for the Hawkeyes.

No. 4 Brianna Gonzalez kept the trend going for the Hawkeyes, winning by decision (8-2) over Mayangelie Colon at 117 pounds. Then, at 124 pounds, No. 6 Cali Leng secured the win with an 8-1 decision over Catie Campbell. Junior Emily Frost battled to a first period win at 131 pounds, securing the pin over Maya Davis (2:21).

Lilly Luft, in her second match of the season, secured a last second score for the 10-6 win by decision over Adrienna Turner at 138. Cadence Diduch extended the Hawkeye lead at 145, registering a 10-0 technical fall over Sofia Delgado.

At 180 pounds, Katja Osteen accepted a forfeit. A battle followed at 207. Down 2-2 by criteria, freshman Libby Dix forced a step out to clinch a 3-2 decision over Andjela Prijovic.

– Libby Dix and Lilly Luft secured wins in the final seconds of their matches.
– Iowa won at nine of 10 weights. Grand View’s only win came via forfeit at 160 pounds.
