AHSTW Girls Basketball Defeats Tri-Center
December 9th, 2025 by Jack McGonigal
The AHSTW Girls Basketball team defeated the Tri-Center Trojans 38-22. AHSTW’s three-point shooting, defensive pressure and ability to convert defense into offense were the keys to victory for the Lady Vikes. For Tri Center, inconsistency on the offensive side of the basketball caused the Trojans to be cough the basketball up too many times to pull the road victory.
It was a slow start to the game as both teams came out stagnant, but AHSTW hit two late first quarter threes to go ahead after one. The Lady Vikes picked up right where they left off hitting another two threes to immediately go ahead 16-6. Tri-Center settled down the Lady Vikes by burning a timeout and scoring four consecutive points from Danica Hoden and Cameron Way. AHSTW began working the basketball inside for a pair of buckets to go into the locker room 20-10.
In the third, AHSTW’s intensity and physicality increased as they began getting to the free throw line more consistently. The Lady Vikes went 5/7 from the free throw line and benefitted from an Ava Paulsen three pointer as well. Tri-Center was able to get just two free throws from Cameron Way in the third quarter. After the third, AHSTW led 30-12. In the fourth, Tri-Center’s Freshman Haley Harder hit back-to-back midrange jumpers to begin the quarter, while Junior Jozie Payne added four points of her own. Sophomore Kennedy Wyman hit a three for the Lady Vikes in the fourth quarter and another two points from Junior Addison Carroll secured the 38-22 victory for AHSTW. The duo of Wyman and Carroll led the Lady Vikes with nine points each and improved to 3-1 on the season. Tri-Center dropped to 2-2.
AHSTW Head Coach Jason McCall was impressed with his team’s performance.
McCall believed his team got better as the game progressed tonight.
The 3-1 start is massive for his team’s confidence.
AHSTW continues its season Friday at Treynor while Tri-Center hosts Riverside Friday as well.
