Warrants requested in a fatal Council Bluffs pickup/motorcycle crash

(Council Bluffs, IA) – The Council Bluffs Police Department, late this (Friday) morning, said arrest warrants are being sought for a man accused of driving a pickup truck that collided with a motorcycle on Oct. 18th, and that resulted in the death of 17-year-old Hayden Baker, of Council Bluffs. Authorities say toxicology results determined the blood-alcohol level of the pickup driver, 52-year-old Jason Lee Evans, of Council Bluffs, was nearly four times the legal limit for alcohol, and he had marijuana in his system the night of the crash.

Charges of Homicide by Vehicle/OWI – A Class B Felony, and a Class C- Felony charge of Leaving the scene of a fatal crash – are currently pending. If convicted, Evans faces a maximum of 25-years in prison.

Hayden was driving his motorcycle, on his way to pick-up his mom from her place of work, when, police say, EVans’ pickup truck rear-ended him and left the scene. His mom, Karla Baker, confirmed that Hayden died after being placed on life support and donating his organs.
