McKenna Woliczko Signs with Iowa WBB

IOWA CITY, Iowa – The No. 6 national recruit McKenna Woliczko (Vull-itch-KO) signed a scholarship agreement with the University of Iowa women’s basketball program, it was announced Wednesday by P. Sue Beckwith, MD, head coach Jan Jensen.
The San Jose, California, native is rated the sixth-highest prospect nationally and is the second-highest rated power forward in the 2026 class.
“Culture, community and relationships are why I chose the University of Iowa,” Woliczko said. “The Hawkeye fan base has welcomed me with open arms, and I am thankful for the immediate acceptance. The countless connections with staff, players and Iowa City have been exactly what I was looking for.”
In high school, Woliczko led Archbishop Mitty to a unanimous No. 1 ranking nationally. During her sophomore season, she averaged 22.1 points and 8.4 rebounds per game. Her junior season ended due to injury after only 10 games but was averaging 22.2 points and 8.6 rebounds per game while making 59 percent from the field. Woliczko is expected to make a full recovery and will return to play this year for Archbishop Mitty.
Woliczko is the highest rated recruit Jensen has signed in her first two seasons as the head coach. She is the second highest rated recruit in program history. (Caitlin Clark, 2020)

TEAM USA BASKETBALL NOTES
– Gold Medals: 2024 FIBA U17 World Cup, 2023 FIBA Americas U16 Championship
– Teams: 2024 USA Women’s U17 National Team, 2023 USA Women’s U16 National Team
– Honors: 2024 FIBA U17 World Cup All-Star Five, 2023 FIBA Americas U16 Championship All-Star Five
2024
– Won a gold medal and was named to the All-Star Five at the 2024 FIBA U17 World Cup in Leon, Mexico.
– Averaged 12.4 points (.513 FG), 9.6 rebounds (fourth among all players) and 2.4 assists in seven games.
2023
– As a member of the 2023 USA Basketball Women’s U16 National Team, started all six games and averaged 11.8 points and 9.7 rebounds in helping USA to a 6-0 record and gold medal at the 2023 FIBA Americas U16 Championship in Merida, Mexico.
– Shot 62 percent (33-53 FG) from the field to lead all players at the tournament.
– In the team’s semifinal bout with Argentina, Woliczko recorded 24 points, 13 rebounds, two assists, two steals and a block.
