Magnotta and Short Named to NFHCA Senior Team

IOWA CITY, Iowa — University of Iowa seniors Mia Magnotta and Milly Short have been named to the 2025 National Field Hockey Coaches Association Senior Team, the association announced Thursday.
Magnotta appeared in 61 games during her career, starting 58 consecutive games dating back to the 2023 season. The goalkeeper logged 3,791 career minutes, recorded 264 saves and tallied 21 shutouts.
The Forty Fort, Pennsylvania, native earned the Big Ten Sportsmanship Award during the 2024 season, was Academic All–Big Ten in 2023 and 2024, and was a 2024 NFHCA National Academic honoree.
Short scored seven goals and had three assists in her career and was part of a defense that helped record 27 shutouts, including eight in the 2023 and 2024 seasons. The midfielder/defender, who started 59 of 63 games in her Hawkeye career, recorded three game-winning goals over the past four seasons.
The Worcestershire, England, native earned her second second-team All–Big Ten honor this season and was an NFHCA All–West Region second-team selection. She also was Academic All–Big Ten in 2024 and named to the Big Ten Fall Academic All-Conference team in 2023.
The Hawkeyes finished the 2025 season with a 14-6 overall record and an NCAA Sweet 16 appearance.
