Pursuit in NE Iowa results in a head-on crash Friday night

(Black Hawk County, Iowa) – A pursuit late Friday night in northeast Iowa ended with a head-on crash that sent two people to the hospital. The Iowa State Patrol reports a car driven by 24-year-old Cory Devries, of Grundy Center, was being pursued by law enforcement at around 10:35-p.m. and was traveling south in the northbound lane on Highway 63 near Hudson, when the vehicle struck a fully-marked law enforcement squad car with its emergency lights activated.
Following the head-on collision, both vehicles came to rest on the road. Devries, and the driver of the squad car, 45-year-old Joshua Meggers, of Cedar Falls, were transported to separate hospitals. Devries was flown by AirMed helicopter to Iowa City, while Meggers was taken by Hudson Ambulance to Mercy One Hospital.
The Patrol was assisted at the scene by Black Hawk and Grundy County Sheriff’s Deputies, Hudson Police, and Hudson EMS/Fire.
