No. 15 Hawkeyes Blank Indiana, 2-0

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The No. 15 University of Iowa women’s soccer team defeated Indiana, 2-0, on Sunday afternoon at Bill Armstrong Stadium. The Hawkeyes finish the regular season at 11-3-4 overall and 6-2-3 in Big Ten Conference play.

It was a defensive battle through the first 45 minutes, as Iowa outshot Indiana, 3-2, and held a 2-1 edge in shots on goal.

Graduate student Kenzie Roling and junior Sofia Bush each put a shot on goal for the Hawkeyes, but the match remained scoreless at halftime.

Bush broke the tie in the 73rd minute with an assist from senior Shae Doherty, giving Iowa a 1-0 advantage. The goal was the first of the season for Bush.

Junior Millie Greer extended the lead in the 85th minute, finishing a feed from sophomore Iba Oching to give Iowa a two-goal cushion in the closing minutes.

After totaling three shots in the first half, the Hawkeyes outshot Indiana, 12-3, in the second period. The Iowa defense held the Hoosiers to just five shots and one on goal for the match.

The Big Ten Tournament takes place, Oct. 30-Nov. 9. The opening round and quarterfinals will take place in West Lafayette, Ind. with the semifinals and finals being held in St. Louis, Mo. at Energizer Park. Bracket and game time information will be released later today.
