IOWA CITY, Iowa – Long-time friend and University of Iowa supporter Marilyn Howard passed away Oct. 19. She was 93.

Marilyn, along with her late husband, Dale, were proud supporters of the University of Iowa, Ellsworth Community College and Northern Iowa.

The Howards provided leadership support to the Carver-Hawkeye Arena Enhancement Campaign and the Iowa Football Legacy Campaign. The Dale and Marilyn Howard Family Pavilion serves as the main entrance into Carver-Hawkeye Arena, which is the primary home to the Iowa Athletics Department.

Dale and Marilyn were named the National I-Club Hawk of the Year in 2009, recognized as honorary Iowa letterwinners, and received the Football Appreciation Award in 2014.  The Dale Howard dealership in Iowa Falls has participated in the UI Athletics Department courtesy car program for several decades.

The Howard family was also involved in the leadership in Coaches vs. Cancer.

Visitation will be held Thursday from 4-7 p.m. (CT) at First United Methodist Church in Iowa Falls, Iowa.  The funeral will be held Friday at 1:30 p.m. followed by the burial at Union Cemetery.  A reception will be held following the burial at Highland Country Club.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the First United Methodist Church or to the Ellsworth College Foundation, both in Iowa Falls.
