IOWA CITY, Iowa – Lillian Humphries will join the University of Iowa women’s wrestling staff as director of operations, it was announced Monday by head coach Clarissa Chun. Humphries joins the Hawkeyes after serving as the head women’s wrestling coach at Huntingdon College in Montgomery, Alabama.
“We’re thrilled to welcome Lillian to Iowa,” said Chun. “Her background in women’s wrestling, organizational skills, and passion for the sport make her a perfect fit for our program.”
Humphries has more than 10 years of experience in the sport of women’s wrestling, including the last three seasons helping build the Huntingdon College women’s wrestling program from the ground up. She coached three national qualifiers during her tenure.
A native of Greenville, South Carolina, Humphries graduated from Presbyterian College with a bachelor’s in business administration and a concentration in management and was a member of the first Division I women’s wrestling team in the nation. She was the first South Carolina female to get an athletic scholarship to wrestle Division I and the first NCAA Division I women’s wrestling graduate. Humphries was a two-time NCWWC National Qualifier for Presbyterian College.
Humphries will oversee the day-to-day operations and travel logistics for the Iowa women’s wrestling program.
