NORMAN, Oklahoma – The University of Iowa women’s tennis team concluded competition at the ITA Central Regional Championships on Sunday at the Headington Family Tennis Center, facing opponents from Kansas State in extra matches.
In singles play, Tereza Dejnozkova earned a straight-set victory over Zhanel Rustemova, 6-3, 6-2.
In doubles action, Pia Kranholdt and Sally Xu defeated Rustemova and Margaret Jaraczewski, 8-3, while Nikita Vishwase and Eline Bex fell, 8-2, to Martaa and Maralgoo Chogsomjav.
“Regionals is always one of the biggest tournaments of the fall,” said Iowa head coach Sasha Boros. “It’s a great opportunity for us to compete against the best players in our region. We took a lot from this weekend. We’re going to go home for a couple of weeks of good training and practice, then finish up our fall at the Notre Dame invitational.”
