Hawkeyes Complete Opening Round at Fallen Oak Collegiate

BILOXI, Miss. — The University of Iowa men’s golf team opened play at the Fallen Oak Collegiate on Saturday, finishing the first round at five-over-par to sit tied for 11th place.
All five Hawkeyes turned in identical rounds of one-over-par 73 on day one at Fallen Oak Golf Club.
Junior Max Tjoa and redshirt freshman Grant Gudgel led the way early, each firing a three-under 33 on their opening nine. Both players recorded three birdies during that stretch to set the tone for Iowa’s round.
Freshman Bennett Warren opened strong, birdieing three of his first six holes on the back nine to post a 34 on that side and card a one-over 73.
Senior Gage Messingham carded an even-par 36 on the front nine and added a 37 on the back to finish with a one-over 73.
Sophomore Chance Rinkol rounded out the Hawkeye lineup with consistent play on both sides, shooting even-par on the back nine and one-over on the front to finish with a 73.
