Atlantic Football Hits the Road to Battle for District Championship

Sports

October 24th, 2025 by Christian Adams

After a night that could only be described as magical last week, the Atlantic Trojans have earned the right to play for a district championship. The Trojans now 6-2 and in the midst of a five-game winning streak will be put to the test when they face the Carroll Tigers. Carroll has run through district play with their most notable win being a 50-0 blowout of Creston. Head coach Joe Brummer and the Trojans are excited for the challenge but will have to guard against a hangover after the emotions of last week.

On paper, these two teams could not be more similar. Both teams rely heavily on the run and have all-star backs. Ethan McNeal leads 3A in all-purpose yards while Adam Malik is fourth in the class in rushing touchdowns. Each of the two staffs have tremendous respect for each other and there will be little to no surprises when the two hit the field.

The game will be a physical battle. Carroll has not put up less than 200 rushing yards in game since September 5th against Spencer (second game of the season). On defense, the Tigers have two shutouts in their last three games. Brummer gives a lot of credit to their front and knows the Trojans will have to match their physicality.

As the Atlantic offense continues to thrive, the run game will always take center stage, but they will continue to try and use their athletes to exploit matchups and create problems for the Carroll defense.

Much like the Tigers the keys to game are simple. Establish the run, play assignment football and win the turnover battle.

You can catch all the action on KJANTV. Kickoff is expected between 7:30 and 8:00 pm due to Kuemper Catholic hosting a playoff game prior to the start of this contest.
