Toren Young To Serve As Honorary Captain

IOWA CITY, Iowa — Former University of Iowa running back Toren Young will serve as honorary captain when the Hawkeyes host UMass on Saturday on Duke Slater Field at Kinnick Stadium. Kickoff is set for 6:40 p.m. (CT) and the game will be televised on BTN.

Young was a three-year letterman and helped the Hawkeyes win three bowl games (2017 Pinstripe; 2019 Outback; 2019 Holiday) from 2017-19. The native of Madison, Wisconsin, amassed 1,262 rushing yards and nine total touchdowns (eight rushing) in 32 career games. His 1,262 career yards rank 37th in Iowa history.

Young totaled a single-season best 637 yards rushing and six touchdowns (five rushing) as a junior in 2018. He rushed for 432 yards and a score, and was a game captain four times in 2019 as a senior. Young registered 193 yards and two touchdowns during his sophomore campaign.

Young will accompany the Iowa captains to midfield for Saturday’s pregame coin toss. He will also be with the Hawkeyes in the locker room before and after the game.
