Taylor County Sheriff’s Office investigates Bedford Schools firearms incident

(Bedford, Iowa) – Sheriff’s officials in Taylor County, Saturday night, said they are investigating an incident that occurred at around 9-p.m., Friday, and that resulted in the arrest of 18-year-old Kaeden Foote, of Bedford. Authorities say they were notified of a disturbance involving a firearm that occurred in Adams County. Adams County Sheriff Deputies were attempting to locate the individuals that were involved and believed to be traveling to Bedford.
Troopers with the Iowa State Patrol located the vehicles and persons involved, in the student parking lot of the Bedford Community Schools at 903 Pennsylvania Street in Bedford. Deputies from the Taylor and Adams County Sheriff’s Office responded swiftly, and the individual was taken into custody without incident. At no point were students or staff physically harmed. Due to the nature and age of some of the interested parties only those who are 18 years of age will be disclosed.
Officials say Kaeden Foote was charged with carrying weapons on school grounds, a class D Felony and cited for person under legal age in possession of alcohol. Foote is a former student and not enrolled at Bedford Community Schools.
A social media post from the Sheriff’s Office said “The safety and security of our students, staff, and community remain our top priority. We ask that the public avoid speculation and rely on official updates.”
This is an on-going investigation being conducted by the Adams and Taylor County Sheriff’s Offices.
