Storm Lake Prepares for Home Contest with Atlantic
September 18th, 2025 by Jack McGonigal
The Storm Lake Tornadoes host the Atlantic Trojans Friday night as both teams are seeking to get back to even records on the year. The Tornadoes face a two-game losing streak to Thomas Jefferson and MOC-Floyd Valley. Fourth year Head Coach Drake Curry says his team is competitive and looking to become better defensively.
Storm Lake is a pass heavy team with their Senior Quarterback Cameron Boyd. Boyd has thrown for nearly 600 yards through three games with eight touchdown passes. Curry says Boyd’s athletic ability across multiple sports has really helped him lead the Tornadoes offense.
Curry emphasized the importance of playing penalty free football the best they can especially against teams they’ll go wire to wire with.
Storm Lake has a balanced defensive force with five players with ten tackles or more. The Tornadoes believe that opens the door for several players to make big plays throughout the game.
Curry says his defense is going to have to contain Atlantic’s run game if they want to win Friday night.
Kickoff is scheduled from 7 pm and you can catch all the action on KJANTV with coverage beginning at 6:30 pm.
