Shooting incident under investigation in Marshalltown

(Marshalltown, Iowa) – Police in Marshalltown are asking for the public’s help in locating a man considered to be a “person of interest” in connection with the shooting of two people, Saturday night. 69-year-old Dewey Elvie Perdue is considered to be armed and dangerous. Persons seeing the man are asked to call 9-1-1.

According to authorities, at around 7:50-p.m., Saturday,  Marshalltown Police received a call of a shooting in the 800 Block of East Main Street. When officers arrived in the area, they found that two victims had been shot. The suspect had left the area on foot. Both reported victims were transported by medical staff to Unity Point Health. One victim was treated and released, and another was transported to an out-of-county medical center. The second victim’s status is currently unknown.
The suspect – Dewey Perdue – was last seen running southbound in the 900 Block of East Main Street, wearing dark pants and a dark hooded sweatshirt. He was described as being 5-feet 9-inches, and weighing about 205 pounds. The case remains under investigation.
Anyone having information regarding the incident or information on Perdue’s whereabouts, is asked to call 911.
