IWCC President talks upcoming an upcoming Bond referendum
September 22nd, 2025 by Ric Hanson
(Council Bluffs, Iowa) – In addition to casting ballots for local City official and School Board candidates, voters in the southwest Iowa will determine the fate of an Iowa Western Community College (IWCC) bond referendum, Nov. 4th (2025). Iowa Western President Dr. Dan Kinney says they’re excited about the prospect of what the $55-million dollar referendum being approved by the voters would mean for students attending the colleges main and satellite campuses.
Dr. Kinney says most of their trade programs have doubled in enrollment the past couple of years.

If approved, the bond referendum would help to fund improvements to the Council Bluffs campus, but also those in Atlantic, Shenanddoah and Clarinda, where Kinney says they need “Flexible industrial training space” for various trade programs.
Kinney says the most important aspect of the bond issue, is that it can be done without raising the tax levy rate.
