Iowa coach Kirk Ferentz says quarterback Mark Gronowski is ready to lead the Iowa offense in next week’s season opener against the University of Albany. Auburn transfer Hank Brown will be the backup. Gronowski transferred to Iowa after leading South Dakota State to a pair of FCS national titles but missed spring drills after having surgery on his throwing shoulder.

Gronowski is making progress working with the Hawkeye receivers.
