Iowa State Sees 14 Earn WCGA Scholastic All-American

AMES, Iowa – 14 Iowa State gymnasts were named Scholastic All-Americans by the Women’s Collegiate Gymnastics Association (WGCA) on Monday, the organization announced. ISU’s 14 selections tie the program record for most athletes to receive the honor in a single season (2022 & 2023).
Iowa State’s 2025 recipients were: Noelle Adams, Josie Bergstrom-Te Slaa, Kaia Bochow, Haylee Hardin, Hannah Loyim, Madelyn Manternach, Lauren O’Brochta, Emma Ricks, Sydney Saturnino, Ella Schell, Frederique Sgarbossa, Lauren Thomas, Rachel Wilke and Paige Wills.
Seniors Bergstrom-Te Slaa, Loyim and Wilke all earned the recognition for the fourth time each, achieving the honor in all four years of competition. Thomas was the only Cyclone to receive the recognition for a third time, while Manternach, O’Brochta, Saturnino and Schell all secured the award for a second time. Adams, Bochow, Hardin, Ricks, Sgarbossa and Wills were all first-time recipients.
The Cyclones as a team earned a 3.63 team GPA and were one of 58 programs to finish with a team average of 3.60. ISU’s 14 recipients from a 16-athlete pool ranked tied for 15th nationally, as 87.5 percent of the team was honored.
ISU’s 14 honorees tied with both Arizona State and Denver, while Arizona led the conference with 19 gymnasts receiving the recognition.
Student-athletes must maintain a 3.50 or higher GPA during the academic year or cumulatively during their collegiate career to qualify for Scholastic All-America honors. 1,218 individuals earned Scholastic All-American status – the most ever recorded.
