Iowa’s Jaxon Rexroth adjusts to starting role

Iowa linebacker Jaxon Rexroth says the experience he gained in the Music City Bowl will help as he steps into a starting role. The former walk-on filled in for the injured Kyler Fisher in a 27-24 loss to Missouri and is expected to be the new starter in Iowa’s “Leo” position, a hybrid linebacker/pass rusher spot.

Rexroth says he is working to become the leader that Fisher was for younger players.

Rexroth wants to continue the tradition of Iowa starting linebackers also helping on special teams.

The Hawkeyes open the season at home on August 30th against the University of Albany.
